Manchester United 5 Wigan 0

Another great result to end
another great year for Sir Alex and his team.
Best preformance of the season so far.
It was about time Man Utd gave someone
a thrashing and Man Utd did just that!

Hopefully Man Utd can start going on one of
their amazing league winning runs
that takes them TOP of the table
come March/April 2010.
That's is a 100% guarantee from me.:p

United should try signing up new players now rather than wait till summer as most if not all of the top players will be pre-occupied with the WC. Moreover, the price tag could easily escalate if they perform well at the world stage.

I posted the above thread. Anyone followed? I didn't because i don't punt. Nothing gained nothing lost, no regrets.

If you look at the odds offered by Pool for a United win, it was ridiculously skinny. It implies that
1. Punters were betting on a whim.
2. They've still not figured out the old fart where team selection is concerned.
3. Underestimated Leeds. Think Howard Wilkinson,Eric Cantona, Francis Lee.

I believe Pool offered a juicy $13 for a Leeds victory.

one of the worst performance this season by man U.

tactics wrong - why on earth play Obertan on right and Welbeck on left? shld be the other way round.

neville is slower than a turtle and dun understand why Fergie play him...shld have played both rafael and fabio.

and this match prove that Wes Brown is crap, granted, Vidic is injured at warm up but Fergie needs another defender. Rio is gone case. Another typical match where Brown threw away the match for Man U - like he did on many occasions.

And lastly, Kuzaciak (the Polish goalie) can forget being #1 for Man U, his wrong positioning cost the match. He does not have what it takes to be goalie for man U...

What on earth is Fergie doing? He needs players in - unless this is his last season and he is saving funds for his succcessor. if so, I hope it will be Murinho....

Seriously, if we look at Man United, with the exception of Ferdinand, Vidic (who is going to Real next season), Hargreaves (who might never recover) and Rooney, the rest are either over the hill (Giggs, Scholes and Owen), so-so niah (Carrick, Evra, Anderson, Berbatov) and cannot make it (the rest, that is).

When Fergie retires, which is soon, it will be the end of an era unless someone comes in wiht 1 billion pounds to buy the club from the Americans and clear the debts. Maybe 18 league titles is the limit some footballing god imposed on the english league. keke

So who do you think they should buy, especially in light of the diabolical performance against Leeds?

Obertan and Welbeck switched flanks during the game, so that was not the main problem. The main problem was that all the players bar none, played diabolically.
Neville is past his best and can't play at the top level anymore, and I think both Rafael and Fabio are not ready in the defensive aspect. They should be loaned out to get more experience.
Kuszchak is not good enough to be the goalie for a top club, they need to buy someone to replace VDS. Who do you have in mind? I would suggest Adler of Leverkusen or Mandanda of Marseille.

I think Evra is a world class player. Fletcher is also a good player in his prime and so his Valencia.
But I agree with you that the rest ars either over the hill, so-so or too inexperienced.
They need reinforcements.

Buy Huntelaar or they can turn to Fabiano. They need a thinking midfielder in the mould of Iniesta. A defender or two to replace Ferdinand and definitely a good keeper.
Anderson has not shown any improvement of late and I wonder if his mind is on the game at all.

The loss against Leeds was down to the old fart tinkering with the formation yet again just after the 5-0 drubbing of Wigan. Personally, I thot the squad was short on confidence and he should have at least kept the same players for the Leeds encounter and leave the fringe players for the league cup semifinal.

honestly, its not easy to find someone to replace VDS, I think after Schmeichel, only VDS truly fits the bill, the only disappointment is that Fergie didn't sign him earlier (during those years of donkey Bathez and Bosnich). Man U's goalie need to be tall and have a commanding pressence - not like Kukuchek. I will think Buffon is good.

I think Fergie will have to bank on winning the Mickey Mouse cup liao. Premier league is no way - not with Chelsea so strong. Arsenal will be ahead of them when they finish their 2 games in hand. Champions League ha ha...i cannot imagine them facing Barca again and come out winners. So, the only realistic hope = League cup. They better win that, meaning Fergie will put out a strong team.

I'm not a fan of the old fart, but for this game, I don't blame him, I blame the players who simply didn't perform. There were 8 full internationals and 3 under 21 internationals in that team and they failed to beat a third division team.
The only silly thing the old fart did was blaming the referee for giving only 5 minutes of injury time. How much time did he want - 1 hour?

Unfortunately, Buffon won't be available unless they are willing to pay 50 million pounds. That's why I suggested Adler or Mandanda, because they are from "smaller" clubs. You can bet Valdes, Casillas, Cech or even Lloris from Lyon will probably not be available either.
You are right about the keeper, he needs to be commanding in the box, good in the air and with his feet. I actually rate Foster and Kuszchak as better shot stoppers than VDS, but in those items mentioned, they are far behind.

BOYCOTT ADVISES OWEN TO TRY FENG SHUI

Posted 05/01/10 10:52

Former England cricketer Geoff Boycott has written to Michael Owen advising the striker to take up Feng Shui in order to rekindle his England career.

Boycott has revealed he wrote Owen a letter last year suggesting that he should try the ancient Chinese art following his own successful recovery from cancer.

"Michael is struggling with his scoring and obviously wants to get back in the England team for the World Cup finals in South Africa," Boycott told The Sun.
"So I wrote to him a while back urging him to give it a go. If he is not interested, fine, I've not a problem with that.

"I am only trying to help and if it helps him find his scoring boots again, then great. Everyone has won.

"He hasn't replied yet. But if he does, I will put him in touch with some experts in Feng Shui and see where that takes him."

When you talk about English Internationals, its got to be taken with a grain of salt. They're suffering from a talent deficiency in British football.
Fergie played a similar defensive line up against CSKA with Evans, Brown and Gary, made a host of comical errors and fortunately conceded only 3.
Put it simply the old fart underestimated Leeds, thinking that any team he puts up can win the game.Truth be told rotation only works if the whole squad is playing with confidence and that I'm afraid is missing.

If I had known about the players Fergie selected to start the game, I would have bet the house on Leeds winning. I am looking for odds that they will end up with a barren season.

Maybe even mickey mouse cup cannot win. I hope Fergie does not make the same mistakes Wenger made, ie. to be in constant denial of the need to refurbish.Even Wenger has change his tact of late with the acquisition of Arshavin and Vermaelen. This could be Arse's only realistic chance at the title coz City and Chelsea are likely to splash the cash for top players next season.
