Dear brothers and sisters,

How can I not to be identified as tiong kok kia when travelling overseas to countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand? I don't want to be associated to China and getting all the necessary abuse.

How can I tell them that I am from Singapore and born in Singapore? any idea?

Don't speak English with a Tiong accent. Better still, learn British English.

not a good idea. to a lot of them, the next question will be which part of china is singapore. Some more the red in the flag and the five stars is just too close to tiong flag.

Attacks on East Asian people living in the US have shot up during the pandemic, revealing an uncomfortable truth about American identity.

Though she was not born in the US, nothing about Tracy Wen Liu's life in the country felt "un-American". Ms Liu went to football games, watched Sex and the City and volunteered at food banks.

In her case, she says a Korean friend was pushed and yelled at by several people in a grocery store, and then asked to leave, simply because she was Asian and wore a mask.

In states including New York, California, and Texas, East Asians have been spat on, punched or kicked - and in one case even stabbed.

In Texas, an Asian family, including a two-year-old and six-year-old, were stabbed in a supermarket. An FBI report obtained by ABC news said that "the suspect indicated that he stabbed the family because he thought the family was Chinese, and infecting people with the coronavirus". The family was Southeast Asian.

To a large extent, white people are jealous and resentful of Asians because they are generally known to be more hardworking, successful, resilient, resourceful. When they say skill level = Asian, it is a compliment. Some even feel threatened by Asians. This covid situation has given them the chance to lash out at Asians, to vent their frustrations, to unintentionally expose their hidden insecurities.

Hence in so many ways, China has truly fucked chinks all over the world. Chinks and all east Asians need to support any initiative to make China pay for this.

Working with ang-mohs before, I realized many only have limited skillsets. I've worked in an Asian-based US company as a graphics application specialist and the ang-mohs are surprised I know networking as well. To them, if you know graphics, you shouldn't touch networking as you're treading into their territory. They are proud of their specialization and disdain generalists like me who loves dabbling with different technology.
I conclude they get to be where they are purely by the virtue of their skin color.

That's because have little or no access to pirated software like us in Asia. And they are too noble to use cheong stuff, which limit their capabilities.
That's a very reasonable answer although sometimes I wonder if they are also too proud to try other things...
