Why is it so hard to explain these in clear english. None of the official press organisation can write a decent article to save their lives. The epicentre is the construction site at 60 Sim Drive where 90% of the cases are linked. No basic journalist approach - questions such as what is there, which construction site, why that construction site etc. If they let people run around like headless chickens the govt has only itself to blame. LWL is right - its the least transparent of the 3 govts whether intentional or otherwise.

There is only 1 construction site there : Sims Urban Oasis.

That site's ECO sure kena from NEA for failure to prevent mosquito breeding.

Secretary-General of the People’s Power Party, Mr Goh Meng Seng, said in his Facebook that the 41 cases of locally-transmitted Zika virus is “apparently a cover-up”. He alleged that it is no coincidence that the Singapore Government declared its first locally contracted case soon after Hong Kong declared its first Zika case on 25 Aug. The woman was eventually tested negative for the virus and was discharged from the hospital the day after.

Mr Goh contested against the Health Minister and his team in Chua Chu Kang constituency in the last General Election. He challenged the Minister, Mr Gan Kim Yong, to a debate on healthcare policies which Mr Gan declined.

In saying that he was surprised by how fast the 1 Zika case became 41 cases overnight, Mr Goh suggested that the Singapore Government covered up the outbreak because it did not want to showcase Singapore as a worse-off place than Hong Kong, which it considers its competitor. He said that important information of public interests are only secondary to this Government.

In fronting the media this afternoon to announce the 40 more Zika cases discovered since yesterday, Mr Gan rubbished any talk of cover-up.

Maybe we should do the same here...41 x 10 = 410 cases....but 369 cases recovered...so you have about 41 cases in which another 36 recovered....you have 5 cases...in which 4 have recovered , so, you are left with 1 jiu hoo jr bor & Khatib Camp near Opposite Dieppe Barracks & near to Nee Soon....that will be? 1,000+...suspects!

Even a simple but important thing of naming the site is so hard for them. If they name the site, all those who visited the site for delivery, inspection and those who have associated with those working on the site can let the doctor know if they have fever. The fastest way to alert is the press. One hopeless and useless govt. These are all common sense. 36 out of 41 cases came form this site and they still want to be coy.

Zika is a minor illness. Influenza is a far more serious disease.

Only 20% of those infected actually get sick. The other 80% just go about their normal lives without a care in the world.

For those who are affected the symptoms are mild. Slight fever, rashes, joint pain and Conjuntivitis are all that you have to worry about.

The RC will be putting up notices all over the island...our resident RC member will volunteer to put it up....

Mistakes will always be made. This has nothing to do with incompetence. It is all about being human. We are not a perfect species and things will go wrong as long as the sun rises.

The PAP has a track record of getting things fixed. Just relax and let them do their job.

If a political party makes errors, lies, cheats,.... They will pay a political price E.g. Lose votes

I think the lesser mortals of Spore don't know the real track record of the PAP. After all the PAP still has absolute control the official media & not all Sporeans read the alternative news.

It will take a few more years of "hard truths" e.g. Unemployment before more of them vote for the alternative parties.

I won't be surprised if Zika virus has been here all along for decades and maybe more. I understand that it is milder than dengue and was probably treated as normal fever and flu. It will be interesting to see what the final outcome is. The fact that epicentre is a construction site where breeding has always been a concern helps point to that.

They claim that these cases were mis-diagnosed Assuming that one believes them that the 41 cases of "honest mistakes". Then Sporeans should be very concerned at the quality of our healthcare system where so many cases of misdiagnoses were committed :o

The real worry is that Zika causes microcephaly and other birth defects.
