No, no... Ok English lesson again. I've never tried to be sarcastic. I'm just being direct, to the point. No use covering up or wasting time making black look white or vice versa. If something is good, just say it's good. If reliable data show something is bad, it has to be.

"No-brainer" means an easy choice. It doesn't mean one is stupid or has no brains.

Singapore is a 1st world country, economically strong, safe and attractive vibrant city. Most of us grew up here or have lived here for ages. If I want to upgrade or maintain my "upper class" lifestyle, naturally I would choose another location where life will be better, or at least have standards close to Singapore's. Melbourne fits the bill. Iskandar does not.

This is not just my view. It's collective. Just read, ask and look around. But it's anyone's choice where they want to live or which properties to buy, including overpriced, oversupplied Iskandar with lack of amenities and very questionable politics/government policies/safety.

Seriously I really do not know why Singaporeans want to buy Iskandar then they whine at every turn. Prices are cheap for a reason. There is no such thing as 50% cheaper yet same high quality.
It is up to each individual whether they can accept or not. One must be prepared to trade off. So for those who cannot stomach it be it security, quality, administration , etc Malaysia is not for you. Do not buy and regret for life. Move on to somewhere else ..there are plenty of choices in the world at "upper class" standard.

One can also argue that if this can happen in first world Singapore, then we should not sweat it in Iskandar...lol!

Also, as mentioned before, Singaporeans who are victims of such property projects in Singapore would be unlikely to console or comfort themselves by comparing it to the situation in JB.

Firstly as you said, this is personal choices and preferences, depending on one's own circumstances. Thus the comparison is relative, not absolute. Even a property that is overpriced in JB is cheap relative to Singapore, which is one reason why many choose to buy.

Secondly, it is an easy choice for those who have something like $2.6million in their banks and don't mind uprooting thousands of miles away from Singapore for the long haul. If you can do that then more power to you. But how many of us are that fortunate, or have rich dads?

For peasant folks like me, it is a no brainer to buy Iskandar and rent out HDB to be able to live in a landed property.

Sure, if your pockets allow it, don't sweat it. I know many others whose pockets are hit badly and could have put their money somewhere more certain.

My view is that prices are cheap relative to Singapore. Within JB itself and for locals it is not considered cheap. I had Pontian noodles last night, large bowl for RM7, is that considered cheap or expensive? Again it depends from whose perspective. From a Singaporean view it is cheap AND quality (ok maybe subjective also since some may think Pontian noodles in JB sucks), but for locals it may be expensive. I do not believe things in JB are always of low quality compared to Singapore. There will be good quality things too. Just need to be selective.

Not all as rich as you and also you derive your money from Malaysia, for you all these are like free gift. Those salaried people whose life savings of $2 to $300k for retirement would feel huge pain and loss.

Yep and property is not one of them.

Again the qualifier is that your views are targeted more to investors. It would not be entirely relevant to locals who have to buy JB properties or foreigners who want to live in JB long term.

Hope you calculated all the interest accumulated on those properties at the end of the day.

The get-rich quick investors are the majority, too bad for them.

Ayo I am not really the one uprooting, my next generation is, I plan for them to go. I am the one rooted to Singapore and if have opportunity, retire in Johor, many options for me, including just weekends in hotels which is what I am doing now.

Since I don't have $2.6 million in my bank, what choice do I have but to take a loan at the rate that I believe everyone else is getting, give and take some minor differences in rates offered by banks in JB? It is the way things are in JB, so just live with it. Think about it, I would never be able to calculate the interest accumulated on a landed or condo property in Singapore because I can afford neither.

I feel that you have fallen into the debt trap. I know Johor is cheap but doesn't mean you buy like no tomorrow as the interest is frightening at 4 plus percent. Take care.
