I think it may never come to that. I believe that there are factions inside the party gearing up now that LKY is about to "depart".
He most probably will be asked to step down and another take over but done quickly and quietly, marking the end of a dynasty and the start of another.
If anything, he should start a cabinet reshuffle now, taking a leaf/lesson from the neighboring countries.
