The nature of the internet has changed over the last decade and a new generation of "netizens" seem to have no problem treating the internet as nothing more than an extension of their lives. That's why facebook has thrived.

My generation used the internet for our alter egos not our real lives which is why facebook does nothing for me and I wouldn't want to have anything to do with it.

i suspect ICQ and many other forms of instant messengers helped path the way for the the birth of Friendster, MySpace and subsequently Facebook :p:p:p

Frankly speaking, I used to have a joint Friendster account with an ex Malay colleague.. We had so much fun going around the island meeting the Minahs he befriended at Friendster..
