Let's see how they'll make a CrimeWatch episode based on the riot. It'll be fun.

They can show the episode tomorrow.
Just collate all the videos into one and have a voiceover droning the following propaganda:
"This is a one-off event".
"The victim died due to the driver's negligence."
"The rioters were unhappy because of this."
"The police acted quickly to stabilize the situation."
"This is a one-off event."
"This incident has nothing to do with the migrant policy and overcrowding."
"It was just a few unruly people acting out."

Real reason for not firing:

Every poodle wants to cover his own ass. No poodle wants to write report and largi worst, kenna fucked and even sacked for shooting at innocent bystanders....

Even if wanna play hero, at debriefing must praise his superior in order to sar-kar for a promotion. Must make boss look good.

The poodles could have fire warning shots before the crowd got too unruly. The poodles called HQ for permission to fire warning shots but were denied. That's why the poodles decided to run when the Ah Nehs went crazy. The poodles on the ground knew that they are not allowed to use their firearms even to protect themselves because the top brass has denied them that right.

You must be the senior officer in HQ who denied it or you are the poodle at the scene, the way you talk like you are those poodles...

You forgot to add terms like 'tactical retreat', 'upmost restraint'.

Poodles and frontline soldiers should watch the movie Rules of Engagement. Sometimes you have to defy your commander's orders because you are on the ground, you can better assess the situation. When your personal safety and your teammates' safety are on the line, what the fuck does your top brass know?

Our police really hopeless. 8 or 9 hiding inside ambulance, with a police car nearby on fire.

What happen if the rioters have decided to upend the lorry, or worse, set it on fire. We would have 8 or 9 policeman dead or with serious injury!

As a policeman, you need to stand your ground. If it is just 1 or 2, I can understand the retreat. But, not when there is 8 or 9. Even if need to retreat, also need to do it calmly and with dignity.

Any enemy watching this now knows S'pore forces are all useless. Even if we have the best weapons, we will still be run over if our soldiers behaves the same like their mata counterparts.

According to my friend who was formerly a very senior police officer, when the crowd turned violent the policemen instead of running away, they should fire a few warning shots.

He guessed that those policemen were young and inexperienced national service boys.

Or the officers on the scene were told not to use their firearms. Denied that right by the higher brass, the poodles were left with no choice but to take cover or run away.

Wonder if Vivian, Tharman and Shamu give any specific instructions on this matter.

I am surprised that these Indian ministers have NOT made any public statement. After witnessing how the free trade agreement with India, the world's worst one-sided trade deal, has flooded the country with Indians, I suspect the loyalty of our Indian ministers. Are they loyal to sinkapore or to India?

Sometimes, I wonder if the situation would have a different ending if the old man is still in command.

Given his strong-willed character and determination, I'm sure he'll give the order: "Go all out to stop the rioting. I don't care whatever means you have to use. This rioting must be stopped at all costs."

I suspect that the first response officers were denied permission by the top brass to fire warning shots. That's why they couldn't control the crowd. And with the instructions communicated to the other officers on the ground, their reaction was to take cover or run away. And that's what they did.

You can bet that the COI will not explore the actions of the SPF top brass who failed their men and thus allowed a controllable situation become a riot.

Yeah thanks, and it'll be quite funny if these terms are being droned by the voiceover just as the video shows the cops running away..............

Violence begets violence , as I was reviewing the numerous short clips , it seems no civies were injured nor threatened. The rioters were just trying to say we demand justice , which in this case was grossly misjudged. In the end the whole saga ended in an hour, no lives were lost.

I agree with Kopi uncle, if strong arm tactics were used, the situation would have been different , the festive season would be dampened tremendously and you gentlemen would not like to have curfew imposed would you ?

When the crowd showed signs of unruliness, the officers could have fired warning shots. Choppers could have been deployed to the scene. That could have been sufficient to scare the hell out of these hooligans.
The SPF top brass denied the permission to fire warning shots. The poodles on the ground had no tools to control the situation. That's how the situation deteriorated.

You don't even need to fire shots. A few canisters of tear gas would do the trick for crowd dispersal.

I did chem defense in NS, having tear gas in your eyes, nose and throat is definitely not a pleasant feeling at all.

How violent is the act of throwing some canisters of tear gas in the crowd's general direction? Violence begets violence?

Just admit that the poodles were inexperienced, inept and led by morons. And stop praising that as 'showing restraint', it's silly. Just stop.

me think this is the best thing to do under such extremely grave situation
they did not use their firearms to harm any of the rioters
they beat a gracious retreat from an overwhelming and potentially more explosive situation
that was the right thing to do.....

they did use their firearms
the mob did not go for them
there was nothing wrong or shameful to leave the ugly situation
there was no shame....i think it was the most appropriate thing they did : great !!!
no arms and the riot stopped and burnt itself out within 2 hours: great achievement!!! - not a single shot, not a single death!!!

please dont call be sycophantic understand.
stick to facts...no falsehoods, no untruths and no porlampars. thank you.

I believe that the first response officers requested permission to fire warning shots when the crowd started to grow unruly. But that permission was denied.

The situation deteriorated because the SPF did NOT control the situation.

Warning shots would have halted the unruliness. You think the Ah Nehs are not afraid of being killed?
Sending a couple of helicopters to the scene would also have been a deterrence.

Not given the right to use their firearms, the poodles on the ground could only retreat and run for cover.

And who was the smart ass in the SPF who did not anticipate that traffic would be congested in riot scene? Our ang chia officers had to proceed to scene on foot because of traffic jam. What a joke!

So, please stop singing the praises of the SPF. You should tell your PAP boss to fire the SPF top brass. But I doubt your puppet PAP boss can do anything as the Shamu, Tharman and Vivian runs the country for India.

Our SPF should not charged these rioters

Instead these rioters should be employed by SPF for riot excercises

Re: Poodles explain their incompetence during riotded

The poodles missed a glorious chance to be martyrs.. They made a retreat with no class at all.. Some history lessons here.. When the defeated British Argyll and Sutherland highlanders troops made a retreat from Johor, their commander ordered his already depleted troops to march smartly with a bag piper accompanying them.. with the sound of the bag pipe, they marched on the causeway to Spore with Japs planes bombing them from above skies.. That Scottish regiment were the last British troop To leave Malaya for Spore before British generals decided to bomb the causeway

The top brass of the SPF should answer for their incompetence. Soon, these scholars will be passing the buck to the lower ranks. Let's prevent that by putting the blame at where it should stop ...the top brass.
