Landed home prices continue to rise

"There is no denying that 2013 will be a major milestone for Iskandar, which has passed the stage of infancy when there were doubts over its success."

Adding to this: US economy and manufacturing are powering ahead. China should benefit and effects will spread to this region. Prices should continue climbing strongly this year.

US manufacturing posts best quarter in 2 yrs: Markit

PUBLISHED APRIL 01, 2013

NEW YORK - US manufacturing growth picked up in March as new orders increased and hiring quickened, closing out the best quarter for the sector in two years, a survey showed on Monday.

Financial data firm Markit said its US Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index rose to 54.6 last month from 54.3 in February. A reading above 50 indicates expansion.

Output increased, though the rate of growth slipped to 56.6 from 57.3 in February.

Overall, however, the index averaged 54.9 between January and March, above the 52.6 average recorded in the fourth quarter of 2012 and the best quarterly showing in two years, Markit said.

"The sector will have provided a firm boost to the economy in the first quarter, with output possibly growing by as much as 2 per cent compared to the final quarter of last year," said Chris Williamson, Markit's chief economist.

Domestic demand grew steadily at the same rate as the prior month, while new export orders increased after contracting slightly in February.

The pace of hiring, however, increased, with the employment sub-index hitting 54.6 compared to 53.5 the prior month. March's pace was swifter than the average for all of 2012.

"It is encouraging to see the upturn generating more jobs, with the survey suggesting that approximately 15,000 extra employees were taken on in the sector in March," Mr Williamson said.

The broader US economy added 236,000 jobs in February as the unemployment rate fell to 7.7 per cent, the lowest in more than four years. But economists fear government belt-tightening could slow the labor market's momentum as the year goes on.

Economists polled by Reuters expect government data on Friday to show employers hired 200,000 new workers in March. -- REUTERS

Bro Wuqi, can sense that u r a very loving father. Despite yr kids never got the chance to come to this world.
U still buy toys and offerings for them. Some friends I know simply just abort the baby without any regrets.
I must say there are all kinds of ppl ard.

Thank you Ms Pimples, I lost 2 but luckily still have the ones i have now. I already feel very happy and grateful. I love kids and that is one of the reasons why we set up a school and sunk so much into it even though we knew it would not pay well financially but we decided to go into it anyway. I guess it was also because of how we were treated that i cherish family even more. Until now, many cousins never went through what we did and remain genuinely surprised since they were from rich families and spared most of the stuff we had to go through.

I felt like an orphan many times in my life. Grandparents avoided me and my family as if we were a leper. I have super rich relatives who relentlessly need to flaunt their wealth to us (not that they ever helped us in any way or form with their wealth, power or connections)

I still helped them out of love for my father and the family even though in many ways, some of the cutting words and at times frivolous calls for help really tested the deep love i have for the family, despite how we were treated, i still love them, yes even the ones who were extremely mean. My dad is until now never involved in any major decisions nor respected even though he is the only son.

Everyone else in and outside my family had some items from my deceased grandfather at his funeral to remember him by. Everyone except us that is. I don't even get one photograph and until today i still ask my dad was he adopted. Everyone ate chicken rice and took from the "white gold" till while pointing fingers and asking my family to share 2 packets of cha xiu rice.

No one acknowledge or addresses my mother except one good uncle and two aunts. The rest just ignores my mother yet insists on confucian style obedience and respect from us.

Thinking back, i was glad i pointed out that we should do some rituals or proper funeral services for my deceased uncle and aunt. No matter if they are gone and i have never met them but i felt that something should be done at least to honour their memory.

A friend of mine, he had 2 aunts who kept having a recurring dream over many years of being brought outside the gates of hell and then a young boy keeps fending off certain undesirables for them, even sacrificing himself and pushing against the crowd while they escaped.

When they went to check in with mediums, etc they were told it was their own brother who was helping them. When one was so affected that she went back and asked for the solution, the medium said, in 3 days one person will come with the solution. 3 days later, my friend suddenly got the impulse to suggest to his father to do something and to get the uncle a name at least. Quite a few were shocked but soon a name was begotten and his uncle finally had a name.

Thank you, thankfully i still do.

I cherish kids and whenever i hear of an abortion, i feel really really sad. The second time we lost a kid, it was almost too much to bear.

A friend of mine went through the same thing unfortunately and almost took his own life when his wife broke the news to him while he was away for work in the states. It was the 2nd one and he was going through a really tough patch. He love kids and even wanted his wife to wait one more month to give the "little one" a chance. She did and called to tell him that the doctor went through the operation and had even chided her for waiting so long.

Luckily he did not give up as he has done pretty ok in the end.

RESIDENTIAL property values on the secondary market in Johor Baru continued to grow in 4Q2012 with gains typically ranging from 5% to 8% from the previous quarter, according to The Edge-KGV International Property Consultants Johor Baru housing property monitor for 4Q2012.

Growth is expected to continue as new components within Iskandar Malaysia, such as Pinewood Malaysia Studios, open. Pinewood Studios will generate some 1,500 job opportunities in various film pre-production lines, while other newly-opened projects such as the Legoland and Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park gain traction as tourist attractions, KGV International executive director Samuel Tan tells City & Country.

In the Nusajaya/Skudai area, 2-storey terraced houses and 2-storey semi-detached homes in most of the schemes sampled recorded higher values. For instance, 2-storey houses in Horizon Hills appreciated by 8.33% to RM650,000 from RM600,000 in 3Q while prices of semidees inched up 3.53% q-o-q to RM880,000 from RM850,000.

Nusa Idaman 2-storey terraced house prices averaged RM540,000, up 8% q-o-q from RM500,000, while Taman Sutera Utama home values rose slightly by 2.2% to RM460,000 from RM450,000. Two-storey semidees in Taman Bukit Indah saw their values increased by 5.55% to RM950,000 from RM900,000.

At the Tebrau/Kempas area, 2-storey terraced houses in all schemes except Austin Perdana — where homes appreciated by 6.25% q-o-q to RM340,000 from RM320,000 — maintained their values. Semidees fared much better in the area, with most schemes registering growth. For instance, homes in Austin Heights increased by as much as 7.7% to RM700,000 from RM650,000 in the last quarter, while homes in Taman Gaya also rose 7.7% to RM550,000 from RM520,000. Meanwhile, values of semidees in Adda Heights grew by 5.77% to RM550,000.

Very likely it is a cluster that has been marketed as a semi-d, not possible at this price.

Even if it is cluster, it is still considered cheap because the latest new launch for wetland cluster was sold at 1.2mil +. Correct me if I am wrong. Sometimes I really doubt the accuracy of the article.

Found one cluster for sale at RM 1.3 mil.

Another one cluster corner unit for sale at 1.6 mil

Stay in Kampong Glam in the 70s when I am still a small boy. Friends will come to my shophouse and whistle for me to go out and play.

I still remember my mother bring a cane to look for me in the playground while I am busy catching tadpole.

My kids will not have this type of childhood. But can a community in gated community can create such environment?

Time to hunt for a land property......I guess.

sadly kids nowadays like to play with ipads and computers at home rather than going out to play. gone are the traditional games that kids used to play like what u mention.

Thank you, sometimes its hard relating to cousins of my age or younger when they were not aware how we were treated. They felt everyone was wonderful because unknown to them, these people deferred to them as they were rich. No one knew we were called names, etc but i remain thankful to them. Because of their treatment, i came to realise that water is thicker than blood and friends
were my new relatives. I had absolute strangers helping me out in so many ways that combined all my relatives together, very likely the stranger has helped out more.

Someone once asked my dad to help her in a gambling thing, in the end he got involved and lost his money and she asked her husband to take the only tv we had back then which was a barely working set. No one remembers the good my dad did or when he stood up for his sisters when they were bullied by their husbands or when they threatened divorce, had outside flings, go to Vietnam etc.

My father took it all in his stride despite all these and never revealed most of what he knew to any of us. I didn't even know some of the offspring in the family were from outside sources yet they asserted dominance in the family. No matter, more power to them.

Yesterday we went to do Qing Ming at my grandfathers place, though sky was already very dark and raining heavily, we still went. Waited for an hour in the rain hoping that it will pass but pass it did in the end. We did not give up and in the end burnt all the offering. This year, i bought quite a bit both from SG and JB and it took about an hour plus to finish. My poor dad had to endure being squeezed in the car throughout the long journey there.

Dear all, It is not true however that only daughters will take care of the parents. None of my sisters and few of my aunts ever turned up for Qing Ming, etc though most of them practises Taoism or Buddhism. Yet the only daughter who faithfully attends Qing Ming (along with her husband) is a Christian! My dad wanted to take care of my grandmother but she is just too prejudiced and never gave him a chance.

One time i lamented i wished i could visit my grandmother, an uncle remarked, you could just visit her. He doesn't know every time we call, we get a rude put down. He didn't go through what we did and assumed that we had open access like he and his family. I finally told my dad yesterday, the reason why i declined another better school and choose my secondary school was to be purposely near to them but almost every time when i visited them, i was shooed away.

Its not as if my dad or family were ever in probation/jail, did anything as wrong as some of them did yet we were the only one so discriminated.

Anyway, the experiences helped to make me stronger and appreciate my friends much much more. My dad had a Malay friend from childhood who encouraged him and they helped out each other so much back then. I have asked my dad to try to contact him to see if he would consider buying a place in Johor and i will go all out to help him but my dad said he already have quite a few. I was glad when he told me his friend is now very rich and seldom contacts him, long life and happiness to you Uncle Ahmad, wherever you are.

Dad seldom contacts his friends or family as he is concerned that they will think he is trying to be close to them because they are rich. I am really proud of him sometimes, no matter his faults, he is a good man.

Possibly the older ones at the 2 storey type. If it is indeed at this price though, many of my friends would charter a helicopter to rush down to buy.

Agreed with you. My boy always urges us to go home when we are outside. The reason is he wants to play computer games and watch videos.

Feeling sad and sorry for your lost Wuqi kor.
an ex colleague lost her twins recently and was devastated. unfortunately she is a workaholic and of poor health and the miscarriage was likely to be attributed to that 2 reasons. now she is on long unpaid leave to recover at least her health first. Children are the most valuable creations one can bring into this world.

Brother wuqi,

My childhood experience was quite similar with you. My father is not rich and he has 8 children in total. We were always being physical abused by grandmother, uncles and aunty. All these made me more determined to get out of poverty and I studied very hard. Now, I am not rich but live comfortably with one single income. I chose to stay at home to look after my boys so that their childhood is one that fills with good memory.

On the brighter side, the hardship that we had gone through make us a better person.

Cheers. Let's always move forwards to a brighter future.
