Jaipur, Feb 12 (IANS) A three-year old girl was admitted to a hospital in critical condition after she was raped and brutally beaten up by a youth in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district Tuesday, police said.

The 20-year old accused was arrested, they added.

According to the police, the incident occurred in Kotu Kata area in Bhilwara, some 300 km from Jaipur.

"Asharam Kumar, a resident of the area, kidnapped the girl belonging to a nomadic family and took her to a nearby forest area," said a police officer.

The officer said that Asharam not only raped the girl, but also chewed her lips and other parts of the face brutally.
"He beat her up also. After raping her, the man dropped the girl near her makeshift house. People spotted her bleeding and informed the police," said the officer.

The girl was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of JLN Hospital in Ajmer. "Her condition is stated to be serious. We have arrested Asharam," said the officer.
