Bought one of this, after scouting around for a while, the shops & Pharmacies, OMRON HEM-7221, http://www.omron-healthcare.com.sg/products_bloodpressure_HEM7221.htm paid around S$200+ for this. . . . . . .

. . . . . The most accurate pressure monitor, would be the one with the pump & the mercury that goes up & down the glass tube & the stetescope to hear the heart beat, then again, we are not healthcare professional, we don't know how to hear the heart beat.

Thank you thank you. I read in your link I think I like this model because it has self diagnosis capability. . . . . . . . old style pump & mercury & stethoscope sounds goo but then I have to get a SYT full time live in nurse to help me, Thailand can find easily :p

If that is a problem, grow your own carrots!! ha ha ha Can we trust those Organic ones?, I read somewhere that they "Organic" labelling on many of the produce are just cheating the buyers, though there are genuine one. We don't have farms here, so we can't buy fresh produce, we have to trust & buy in faith what we get from "ants till you C"...wash them vegetables once, before cooking..

In everything, eat in moderation...

You just gave me a very good suggestion. I'm growing my own Thai herbs now why the hell I did not think of growing my own carrots? Thanks thanks halsey02.

I am using the Omron IA2 for many years. It has memory functions with day and date which is very useful when you need to check back. I have the wrist type as well which I use when travelling.
Besides these I go for regular checks and deligently take my medications.
Given up on diet of fresh fruits and vegetables as it is too much of a hassle for me and does not fit into daily routine.

bro, just saw your post. I bought the Omron 7011-C1 (IA2) a few years ago. This is the same HEM range that Halsey mentioned. You can pick higher or lower end models, its up to you, based on some differences. I got mine at around 130? at DFS changi, so check it out on you way out.

These models are quite accurate, you can trust. how i know? trach your BHP everyday, and record it on Blood Pressure app. you will know its accuracy when you compare with GP who uses Omron model too or the huge hospital set. reckon 200 - 250 per set should suffice.

Bro joe, this is the Omron model SEM-2 that i have been using for the last couple of years.Rather accurate to me.
Some imp pointers to note: The arm wrapped ones always give more accurate readings than the wrist wrapped ones.
NEVER use alkaline batteries, just the normal; otherwise the readings will constanly reads higher than true.

Highly recommended.

Thank you gz and fishypie

nowadays, we have many chio nurses, esp those from China. go into the clinic, BP shoots up...and sometimes, nose bleeds!!!...go into the theatre and see those chio nurses, automatically mari kita...Bp shoots up....surgeons refuse to operate!!!!

there are also quite a few Myanmese ladies working in polyclinics too! not too bad looking.

I think this just became a how to raise your BP thread ...

Ok Jah. Thanks.

Aiyo so far still no recommendation on the blood pressure meter. I heard OMRON is good.

Whatever brand you buy, you will need to synchronize it with the sphygmomanometer. Ask your GP for help in synchronizing.

@Fishypie

Good recommendation. Better to take three readings and see the average. The cuff also not too tight.

can not take one after another immediately because your blood vessel is still restricted by the cuff pressure and the reading will surely be lower than the previous ones and not accurate
Must wait at least 10 15 minutes

Gardian having 20% discount. Both are high end Omron models the smaller one on the left is $280 and the other $215 (both before discount). When I saw it this evening I kindda like the smaller model as its just slightly longer than the iPhone 5 but thicker. So tomorrow will go exchange the bigger one to the smaller model. Hope they allow. I am sure they do la. Oh by the way was told that these models could detect heart palpitations, good for me la.

I'm using the Omron HEM 7300 which is their top of the line model and it is manufactured in Japan.

If you have your old Omron BP meter, bring it along with you to the agent's service centre at Tannery Road and they'll do a trade-in for you.

Agent's address:

Statistically, many cardio-vascular events occur in the early morning. The cock crows and the BP seems to be higher. You feel more horny. My doctor advises me to wake up as usual, at around 6.30 am...Sit on the bed, do some stretchng BEFORE I get up and off the bed. Many people with high BP gets " postural" hypotension when they suddenly get up and they just fall back and " collapse". So do be very careful when you get up....Take it easy....and get up slowly.....Take care - those with elevated blood pressure.

Hypertension is a SILENT KILLER....

This one I learn from my good old doctor & some research on the internet, when getting up. do it slowly & getting horny at 2-6am in the morning, take it easy too...doctor says "relax"..how to relax? where you see a "pair of juicy"..a man got to do, what he need to do.. ha ha ha never mind, the BP or ypu may collapse at time in the morning & become of the statistic.... ha ha ha

Do in moderation!!

I bought mine at TTSH, with some discount,, with 24 months warranty & free accuracy test, bought the wall adaptor for $30, in case I can not find batteries...but this is only for insurance...The lower end models, that is cheaper Omron's are assembled or made in Vietnam or China, look kind of flimsy.

Needed to have one of this blood pressure monitor, for the BP is beginning to rise & fall like the stock market index...some day "over bought" * some day "over sold"...

Monitoring the BP is just one thing, I have restarted an exercise routine, for I have stopped doing physical excercise for a very long time, no more playing games, like squash, Tennis , Table Tennis or even Badminton ( now bedminton), or even gone jogging. So now, it is brisk walking up to 1km every monring..before the cock crows ( never mind which "cock") & controlling what goes into the stomach, that is, watch what we eat.

Monitoring BP is just part of it...diet & exercise, must follow, or we will become a statistic for the 2am-6am..."statistic".

Yep that's the same one bought yesterday. I did not know about the trade in but then I don't have an old one to trade. Thanks for the information though.
