With Sam leading the charge in recent months (tongue in cheek of course which flies past the majority) noticed that anti-establishment postings have dropped perceptibly. I wonder how the site will evolve.

I am actually surprised Sam managed to achieve this result (drop in anti-estab postings). He better keep a watch on traffic. Looks like its starting to hurt general traffic which is needed to sustain the site.

As I've always said, Sam while being tongue in cheek is also trying to voice certain opinions that he genuinely feels should be aired. There's nothing wrong with this but it takes a certain level of maturity to respond to such postings. Few things are ever black and white.

I only realised this yesterday when I was reading Lucky Tan's blog. I was asking myself why I have been going to other blogs in recent days. In the past, SBF would carry these things because people would post on everything including on things that PAP did no wrong but the post would still lay the blame on them. I did consider the occasional lull but I suspect that people react to tone and the general direction a site is heading before dipping in.

There should be no notion of pro-PAP or anti-PAP. Just address and discuss issues. It's not possible that everything PAP does is either all right or all wrong. Just like to GMS, everything WP does must be all wrong. Just like to JXL, everything GMS says must be all right. Just like to LTB, everything SDP does must be all wrong etc.

I love these kinds of posts from you.

Leongsam has polarized himself to be completely pro-PAP, which we all know is tongue in cheek but which still alters the behaviours of newbies and even some veterans to post lesser.

This is not what people on the whole have done. This is what Leongsam has done, which has influenced people here by virtue of his position as owner of the forum.

No one here is suggesting the debate should always be polarized to pro or anti PAP. Are you following me on this?

Anything in life worth doing must have a theme, an objective or a purpose. You cannot be a plain jane or a jack of all trades. I can assure you that people come to SBF not for its freedom of speech but to talk about subjects that are of interest but are out of bounds to Singaporeans in any other medium.

There is a genuine desire by people to express their views which others will not carry.

Though many find your many posts interesting, informative and entertaining including, I am sure you do realise that is not the reason people are here. They however find comments by you on elections hustings, activities in nomination centre and polling centres highly informative. Also your views on party activities and politics. These are things you will not find anywhere else.

Maybe an analogy will help.

There was an excellent nitespot in KL that was a draw sometime back. It was called BeetleJuice. Close to Shang. Great crowd. Even attracted the expat crowd. It began to draw a gay lot and the usual crowd began to move elsewhere. The authorities then began raiding the place and it went under. No fault of the owners, just bad luck.

must be a slow day. the impending death of sbf is over-exaggerated.

When the Delphi coffee shop was at its peak, about 1200 messages were posted daily.

This site now has 1500 posts per day on a regular basis... sometimes 2000.

Considering the fact that there are so many more alternative sites today compared to 2006 for people to voice their views, I'm very satisfied with the traffic and the participation levels.

and not discounting the fact that this site is the target of hacks and spam, which means it has arrived at a threshold that attracts such typical attacks. plus the occasional migration to a different dns address and some minor hiccups which may cause a momentary dip, but in due time, traffic will be back to normal and grow beyond the norm.

The reason why the anti establishment postings have dropped is because I have managed to convince many that Singapore is indeed a great place and that the govt, while it does have its flaws, (which govt doesn't) it certainly has the long term survival of Singapore at the heart of all its policies.

Many have not realised in the past that while the little Island is a tropical oasis, beyond its tiny borders is a very harsh and threatening landscape.

This is no ordinary country. It is unique in the way it was forged and it will have to punch well above its weight if it is to continue to prosper the way it has in the past.

As more and more Singaporeans wake up to the realities that Singapore faces, I sincerely hope that they will close ranks behind the PAP in order to maximise the chances of Singapore's success.

Singapore does not need airheads and bimbos who consider their iPhones and their cars to be the most important things on earth. It needs forward thinking individuals who plan for the future and are willing to work very hard to make things happen. If foreigners are needed to fill the empty talent pool, then so be it. They should be welcomed with open arms.

Just my thoughts.

I am not sure if the current traffic figures paint the right picture. Wuqi is doing a damn good and drawing in the crowd. There is also the huge rachet effect because of its long and if I may say so excellent unmatched dissident history. Credit to you for providing the platform and the direction. People will continue to come in for a long time hoping for the old SBF. Remember even SPH used to come to this pond to drink and in the early days did credit SBF for the scoops.

TCSS traffic is exceptionally high . Few people do carry the load and raise the traffic. Erection who is new will be in the top 10 sooner than you think. When I checked just I too was surprised. Nothing against TCSS as it has always been an integral part of this site. Also noticed that Religion is now popular something I never expected that.

I am sure events do play a part but let see how it evolves.

Quality, not quantity, boss. What's the point of having 2000 bicycles if all of them come with seats attached? :(

There are very few like you that can float a balloon like this with a straight face. The vets have seen your spots. The newbies and the really slow take it at face value. It however does not mean that they buy your koyok. They actually think they stepped into the blue oyster.

This is like saying socialism is bad.

But we all know the pitfalls of capitalism too!

This is my final conclusion.

Everything men created is flawed.
