The FBI has opened a criminal investigation into ZTE over the alleged Chinese telecom company's
sale of banned US computer equipment to Iran.

A spokesman for ZTE on Friday said the company offers US consumers a high quality and rapid service.
ZTE says it’s now building a transparent image for the US market and looking to be treated fairly.

The federal investigations stem from a Reuters report in March that accused the Shenzhen-based ZTE of
selling a powerful surveillance system capable of monitoring landline, mobile and Internet communications,
to Iran’s largest telecom firm.
