Has the curse of Arsenal and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey struck again?
Not that we at Sport360° want to make light of the recently departed, and the passing of Whitney Houston has shocked us as much as anyone. But, as sports fans, we couldn't help but notice a menacing trend emerging with today's sad news that the American singer had passed away aged 48.
Houston's death comes just hours after Ramsey netted the equaliser in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Sunderland in the English Premier League on Saturday as the Gunners moved back into the top four. But how can the two be possible linked, we hear you ask?
Well, it is in actual fact the FOURTH time a prominent world figure has passed away the day after Ramsey has found the back of the net for Arsenal in recent months.
Take his winning goal against Manchester United on May 1 last season. The very next day, it was confirmed by American troops that Osama Bin Laden had been killed in Pakistan to bring an end to a near 10 year man hunt.
A day after Ramsey's goal against north London rivals Tottenham in a 2-1 defeat earlier this campaign, Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs lost his long battle against cancer on October 5.
The macabre trend continued when the death of former Libya leader Colonel Gaddafi was announced to the world a day after Ramsey had popped up with a late winner in Arsenal's 1-0 win over Marseille in the Champions League on October 19.
A spooky coincidence or something more sinister? Who knows. But we are already wondering who could be next when the Welsh midfielder finds the back of the net again.
