The new internet mantra as regards politics (you are studying political science?) is engage, engage, engage.

But the minute you just engage in superfluous talk, and after a while it's like, hello, aren't we beating about the bush here?

Maybe I have highfalutin aspirations about the quality of our next generational leaders should be, else why would I want to waste my time in a forum like this?

You can obviously give me warning after warning till the cows come home, but to change my opinion of the scheme of things, you have to show more substance, character here understand?

Obviously if policies you tout aren't up to specification or are self-serving, it is a little bit difficult to engage or explain. I can understand that, so just be honest about it. Or is being honest difficult because you'll just be embarassing yourselves?

Well, hello? That's what politics is all about, is it not? You are here to sell your policies, not shove it down our throats. If you can't explain yourselves, maybe it is high time you examine what's wrong with your policies?

Your question started off being reasonable as you would like to understand the rationale for the presence of PRs in Grassroots Organisations but your motives shone through with your irresponsible tarring of PRs as "self serving bunch" and claim that "your elders preparing to give them the vote".

As such, we shall ignore your second statement and focus the topic on the presence of PRs in Grassroots organisations.

I have no problems with PRs serving the grassroots provided they have stay long enough [10 years my suggestion] in Singapore to understand the needs of residents in the neighbourhood but I honestly do not know the criteria and other reasons which they are selected or are they volunteers too?

btw , I seldom read the ST so I do not know the thread starter's claim of the issue, be it fact or myth. haha....

You can avoid answering my queries and give me warnings, but I actually am puzzled what PRs would want with a quazi-political organisation, if they are not self-serving or if they do not qualify for the vote?

I can understand PRs who involve themselves in church or other NGO activities as they are fulfilling some personal urge to contribute to the society they live amongst, helping the disadvantaged etc.

I read that being a grassloot leader (and they are all leaders it seems) does offer certain benefits.
