Are YPAP as thick-skinned as their elders?

A chip off the old block, as they say, is as good as the old block himself?

Lee Hsien Tau, your topic is nothing but an unjustified personal attack on a group of members who frequent this discussion board.

Lee Hsien Tau, this is your first warning. (1/3)

Millie, your reply is unsubstantiated, baseless and accusatory. If you are unable to provide proper justification for your statements, kindly refrain from making such comments. Your contributions to other topics with regards to policy and other issues is greatly welcome.

Edgar,

I sensed that your views are personal instead.

While you are still young, there is ample opportunity to learn to defend and accept critic from others.

Your credibility may be at stake if you continue to issue warning to others.

Employee with such attitude, believe me, you will be history, even Lee Kuan Yew will terminate your service.

Edgar,

You have to understand that I'm not here to engage in superfluous talk.

The new internet mantra as regards politics (you are studying political science?) is engage, engage, engage.

But the minute you just engage in superfluous talk, and after a while it's like, hello, aren't we beating about the bush here?

Maybe I have highfalutin aspirations about the quality of our next generational leaders should be, else why would I want to waste my time in a forum like this?

You can obviously give me warning after warning till the cows come home, but to change my opinion of the scheme of things, you have to show more substance, character here understand?

Obviously if policies you tout aren't up to specification or are self-serving, it is a little bit difficult to engage or explain. I can understand that, so just be honest about it. Or is being honest difficult because you'll just be embarassing yourselves?

Well, hello? That's what politics is all about, is it not? You are here to sell your policies, not shove it down our throats. If you can't explain yourselves, maybe it is high time you examine what's wrong with your policies?

What are PRs doing in the grassloots?

Are they just another self-serving bunch or are your elders preparing to give them the vote?h

Lee Hsien Tau, I would like to give you your second warning with regards to personal, unjustified attacks on groups. (Warning 2/3).

Your question started off being reasonable as you would like to understand the rationale for the presence of PRs in Grassroots Organisations but your motives shone through with your irresponsible tarring of PRs as "self serving bunch" and claim that "your elders preparing to give them the vote".

As such, we shall ignore your second statement and focus the topic on the presence of PRs in Grassroots organisations.

I have no problems with PRs serving the grassroots provided they have stay long enough [10 years my suggestion] in Singapore to understand the needs of residents in the neighbourhood but I honestly do not know the criteria and other reasons which they are selected or are they volunteers too?

btw , I seldom read the ST so I do not know the thread starter's claim of the issue, be it fact or myth. haha....

Look Edgar,

You can avoid answering my queries and give me warnings, but I actually am puzzled what PRs would want with a quazi-political organisation, if they are not self-serving or if they do not qualify for the vote?

I can understand PRs who involve themselves in church or other NGO activities as they are fulfilling some personal urge to contribute to the society they live amongst, helping the disadvantaged etc.

I read that being a grassloot leader (and they are all leaders it seems) does offer certain benefits.

Edgar,

Now I hear talk that your comrade, Sear Hock Rong, never actually got through his probation in the job he had with the Foreign Ministry?

Is it true?

Even I don't boast of such a good record? The confidence in myself has taken a hit.

Only 2/3 warnings in a few dayz. My EQ must be taking a long break?
