SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 19-year-old youth who is believed to have committed a series of criminal breach of trust, involving handphones.
In February, police received several reports of victims who had their handphones stolen by an unknown man in Choa Chu Kang and Woodlands housing estates.
The suspect would run off with the victims' handphones after borrowing them on the pretext of wanting to make calls to a family member.
As part of investigations, police made checks at several second-hand mobile phone shops where the suspect might have disposed of his loot.
The youth was eventually nabbed on Monday, along East Coast Road.
He will be charged in court Wednesday.
If convicted, he could be jailed for up to seven years.
