Teen thief turns over a new leaf

A 14-year-old girl who stole and sold her mother’s jewellery found herself being robbed by her own friends later on.
The incident happened in August this year.
According to The New Paper, the girl received $10,000 after bringing the jewellery to a pawnshop with a friend.
She spent $3000 on shopping which included among other things, a Gucci bag and a Louis Vuitton wallet.
The girl mentioned the theft of the jewellery to her friends – not thinking much of it.
On August 20th, just after midnight, she went to have drinks with her friends.
Around 3am, she proceeded towards a void deck area with two of her friends who were secondary school boys.
There, the boys robbed her of the remaining $7,000 she was carrying.
The girl tried various means to contact the boys after she was robbed by them but to no avail. She then decided to make a police report.
One of the boys was sentenced to two weeks in a home while the other boy faces sentencing In January next year.
A police officer convinced the girl to tell her mother the truth and the whole story.
The girl’s mother told Lianhe Wanbao that “I lectured her after learning about what happened, but I didn't hit or scold her because there's no use.”
The girl is undergoing counseling at the moment and has also cut down on her smoking habit. She also does not go out very often.
Feeling remorseful, the girl told The New Paper that she wants to buy her mother jewellery when she starts working.
