Edit
More than a week after being lampooned and ridiculed by netizens in cyberspace for his insensitive remarks made during a forum organized by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), embattled newbie PAP MP Vikram Nair posted a note on his Facebook page claiming that he did not say those words at all.
Mr Nair was quoted in an article by Alex Kennedy from the Associated Press as saying that he found it hard to believe that the PAP is disconnected from the ground and added that the PAP should not focus too much on the 40 percent of voters who voted against it.
Below is an extract from the original article by AP:
["When people say that the members of Parliament are disconnected from the ground, or don't want to engage with the people, I find it hard to believe," PAP Member of Parliament Vikram Nair said in a speech at a conference hosted by IPS. "We do what we think is right and sometimes, people won't be happy."
"Don't focus too much on the 40 percent that didn't vote for you," he said. "We have to remember and keep in mind the interests of the 60 percent that did."]

The 60/40 part was disputed by Mr Nair:
“This quote was inaccurate. I have not yet identified where exactly this quote originated from, but I understand it was further disseminated by viral methods, such as facebook links, notes and emails.”
However Mr Nair did not dispute the part in which he ‘emulated’ PAP supreme leader Lee Kuan Yew when he said arrogantly that the PAP will do what it thinks is right.
Unlike TNP’s Melvin Singh, Alex Kennedy is a well-respected journalist with many years of experience and it is highly unlikely that he would misquote Mr Nair.
We challenge Mr Nair to follow his party’s usual practice of SUING Mr Alex Kennedy for defamation if he was indeed misquoted or else we can only assume that he is only trying to cover his ‘ass’ after being caught with his pants down again.
