This time, its Masagos' son Khalid. A recent post by the US Charge D Affairs on twitter showed 2nd Lt Khalid Masagos receiving his acceptance to the US Naval Academy at Annapolis.
However, Khalid only started his National Service in Feb 2018, in the 02/18 cohort.

So, lets say he is part of the 02/18 cohort, which means he graduated from BMT in May 2018. He decided to sign on as a regular in the Navy after BMT, and this was after consultation with friends and relatives, and was accepted straight into OCS in the mids wing, which would mean he would be in SAFTI in May 2018. This would have him pass out from OCS in February 2019 as a brand new 2nd Lt. Now he is being send overseas to the US Naval Academy. Which means that his entire National Service life was only 3 months and not 2 years that every other peasant has to do. As far as I can discern, the 3 months in BMT is the only real NS he has put in. After that, as a sign on, his pay is far higher then NSmen, and also his other benefits are much better. What ever happened to finishing the rest of his 1 year and 9 months of NS, and then signing on as a regular? That is the way it is supposed to be. The National Service Enlistment act clearly states that all eligible males must perform National Service. In this case he clearly did not complete it. The Enlistment Act does not make any exception for job occupations. In other words, even if you are a lawyer, accountant, doctor, dentist, etc, u still have to do the whole NS. Yet, the SAF is illegal ignoring the constitution by exempting its sign on members from National Service completion. After all, a regular soldier is just like any other job occupation. If the others are not exempted, then soldiering should not be exempted either.
Stupid sinkies, wake up and smell the coffee.
