Canadian researchers find a simple cure for cancer, but major pharmaceutical companies are not interested.

Researchers at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada have cured cancer last week, yet there is a little ripple in the news or in TV. It is a simple technique using very basic drug. The method employs dichloroacetate, which is currently used to treat metabolic disorders. So, there is no concern of side effects or about their long term effects.

This drug doesn't require a patent, so anyone can employ it widely and cheaply compared to the costly cancer drugs produced by major pharmaceutical companies.

Canadian scientists tested this dichloroacetate (DCA) on human's cells; it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells and left the healthy cells alone. It was tested on Rats inflicted with severe tumors; their cells shrank when they were fed with water supplemented with DCA. The drug is widely available and the technique is easy to use, why the major drug companies are not involved? Or the Media interested in this find?

In human bodies there is a natural cancer fighting human cell, the mitochondria, but they need to be triggered to be effective. Scientists used to think that these mitochondria cells were damaged and thus ineffective against cancer. So they used to focus on glycolysis, which is less effective in curing cancer and more wasteful. The drug manufacturers focused on this glycolysis method to fight cancer. This DCA on the other hand doesn't rely on glycolysis instead on mitochondria; it triggers the mitochondria which in turn fights the cancer cells.

The side effect of this is it also reactivates a process called apoptosis. You see, mitochondria contain an all-too-important self-destruct button that can't be pressed in cancer cells. Without it, tumors grow larger as cells refuse to be extinguished. Fully functioning mitochondria, thanks to DCA, can once again die.

With glycolysis turned off, the body produces less lactic acid, so the bad tissue around cancer cells doesn't break down and seed new tumors.

Pharmaceutical companies are not investing in this research because DCA method cannot be patented, without a patent they can't make money, like they are doing now with their AIDS Patent. Since the pharmaceutical companies won't develop this, the article says other independent laboratories should start producing this drug and do more research to confirm all the above findings and produce drugs. All the groundwork can be done in collaboration with the Universities, who will be glad to assist in such research and can develop an effective drug for curing cancer.

Lots of different cancers out there probably caused by the hundreds of man made chemicals, pollution, etc

I was at the book store the other day and saw a book by Suzzane Sommers. Some of you may remember that she played the dumb blonde in the TV show "Three's a Company:)

Well she's not dumb. Not only is she financially successful but is a cancer survivor. Some of you might be interested in what she found out about cancer & how some people are recovering from it:

And how much have you donated to cancer research? Big Pharmas function on self-interest. So do you. :)

Once I volunteered to donate my bone marrow to a certain patient who I do not know. I did it after I knew of the person's plight through a friend. I just wanted to be an anonymous donor.

I took leave, went to NUH and filled up the form, then they ask me if I would consider donating to any other person. Since I travel overseas often and not sure of my schedule, I told them no.

Then I waited for a few days and no reply from them. Knowing the speed that cancer develops, I called up to enquire and they told me it is very expensive to test suitability. And since I didnt volunteer to donate without conditions, they didnt test.:oIo:

Didn't know the hospitals in Spore were so money minded:(

Makes one wonder about the reasons behind the Human Organ Transplant Act(HOTA)

the reason why they asked if you would to consider donating to others is because firstly, your blood type and dna has to match close enough to a certain degree to that person. chances of that is 1/200 000. i too sign up for volunteering to donate without any condition. till today i was not called up, this give you the idea how rare the chances of a bone merrow transplant is.

i thought all the while you are an "expert" in all the health issue, supplying this forum with tons of alternative that was not proven to work clinically. you mean you do not know the reason behind this?

To save a human life, isnt it worth trying even it is 1/200 000 chance ? I was pissed that they didnt even test it, and tell me its expensive. If it is their love ones kenna, see if they will test it even if it is 1/100000000000 chance.

too bad but that is how things work. it cost a few hundred US dollar for a single test, this the reason why. since you are willing to donate, you should volunteer. the library is matched throughout the world if i am not wrong.

pai seh i went and checked, its not dna matched. its HLA (some kind of protein, most of us are not biologist anyway so this term dun make much sense anyway) matching.

went to a talk donkey of years back during my college years, that was when i decided to sign up as a donor. that statistic was what i remember vaguely of the chances of being called up. in another word its a number game. the bigger the pool, the higher the chance that patient get a transplant from unrelated donor.

Yes I believe in alternative natural as opposed to the expensive treatment that big pharma companies offer at a $$$ price. In the long run natural is always a better solution. Many of the medications from the big pharma companies are copy cats from nature e.g. statins derived from red yeast.

You might be too ignorant to take the trouble to understand the benefits of natural remedies but believe it or not you are a minority. :) Go tell the TCM practioner his remedies don't work.

We as citizens are paying for Spore's medical system & yet are treated as "lesser mortals". I have some experience with the Canadian medical system & I can assure you that they treat patients better. The treatment is 1st class & you don't have to worry about the cost because everyone is covered by health insurance, even the poor

You don't need to be in the 1st world nation to be treated humanely. I was talking to a Malaysian taxi driver who had a heat attack. He received free treatment although he was poor.

the BEST EVER 100% cure for even TERMINAL STAGE cancer was by................Royal Rife..........back in the 1940's........

this genius was TOTALLY DESTROYED by Big Pharma...................

Vamjok is angry with me because I recommend supplements which are usually sold by family owned businesses & small companies. He is biased towards the big Pharma Companies which he thinks is more respectable:eek:

If one googles big Pharma's name and the word sue , recall, toxic, deaths,.....and you'll find alot of cases.
