U.S. Congressional delegation visits Singapore

SINGAPORE, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. Congressional delegation led by Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means Paul Ryan is visiting Singapore.
The delegation met K. Shanmugam, Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law on Monday morning.
Shanmugam and the Congressional delegation affirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and the U.S, according to news release by Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Shanmugam welcomed the U.S. commitment to continue deepening its engagement of the Asia-Pacific region. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the progress of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.
Both sides reiterated the importance of the successful conclusion of the TPP Agreement, said MFA's statement. With the aim of expanding the flow of goods, services and capital, Trans- Pacific Partnership (TPP) includes 12 nations.
The Congressional delegation is in Singapore for a three-day visit from Sunday to Tuesday. They will also meet Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Minister for Trade & Industry Lim Hng Kiang today.
