saw the tv 2day: a certain "snow white" candidate says our economy is super good coz 20 years ago xchange rate btwin USA is S$3 = US$1
but now S$1.23 = US$1 due to good governance ...

but isn't this due to the sliding US dollar value (every currency has appreciated against the US$) & bad economy policies of US foreclosures & huge US deficit????

You should slam her. US has debased its currency by printing money and our defacto central bank(MAS) and many others in the region are doing just the opposite to curb inflation. It's one of the tools the authority uses to curb imported inflation. Dun believe,ask Tharman lar. Its not by design but out of necessity. I also think they're watching closely global developments and those of our major trading partners. Strong Sing dollar could hurt our exports.
