《南华早报》8月15日报导，成都飞机设计研究所正在研制双座型歼-20，文章中还出现了一张歼-20双座版的设计草图，特别的是，草图中的方案并非是一般战斗机所采用的串列式双座，而是类似于苏-34的并列双座布置方式。
