You will not have this occurrence when the political culture is stable (some would say sterile) and calls for retaining the identity to get familiarity.

You have that in South Korea when the voters are more restless and the ruling party changes every election term. The ousted party will change name, symbol and come back again. Sometimes there are mini-mergers hence change of name.
