On 30th November 2012, Vichy WP promised to roast SMRT in parliament on its labour dispute and treatment of ALL its bus drivers:

WP statement on bus drivers’ strike: SMRT must address workers’ grievances better
http://wp.sg/2012/11/wp-statement-on-bus-drivers-strike-smrt-must-address-workers-grievances-better/

This strike signals a failure in the labour dispute settlement process within SMRT. By its own admission, the SMRT management needs to improve the way it engages its bus drivers. While much attention this week has focused on the grievances of the bus drivers from China, SMRT must address legitimate concerns that have been raised by all its bus drivers since the recent revision of salaries and work hours. We urge SMRT to keep its commitment to improve working conditions for all its workers and ensure channels of communication between workers and management remain open.

This is what that Vichy WP eunuch is now asking:

Parliamentary Questions filed by WP MPs - 14 January 2013

*19. Mr Yee Jenn Jong: To ask the Acting Minister for Manpower when SMRT first became aware of the pay and housing grievances of its foreign bus drivers; when the Ministry first became aware of the grievances; what actions were taken by the Ministry since the grievances were known; and what plans the Ministry has for improving industrial relationship between foreign workers and employers.

But what about the grievance of Singaporean bus drivers who are among the world’s most underpaid and most overworked ???!!!

SMRT Drivers: We are frustrated by NTUC’s incompetency

The (Singaporean) drivers are convinced that this new scheme favours the “hardworking foreign workers.” They are certain that their positions will be filled by cheaper PRC drivers who are ever ready to take up these jobs. “Resigning is not an option. Besides, we are not sure if SBS will take us,” said one driver.

Now, we know that Vichy WP is not ever going to speak up for ALL the SMRT drivers….Their eunuch are only standing up for the foreign one, “the hardworking, cheaper foreign workers”. Singaporean bus drivers are conveniently and shamelessly forgotten, abandoned and betrayed.

Instead of speaking up for foreign workers, Vichy WP eunuchs should speak up more for Singaporean workers. This question should have been re-phrased:

“1. To ask the Acting Minister for Manpower when SMRT first became aware of the PAY and WORKING HOURS grievances of its SINGAPOREAN bus drivers;

2. When the Ministry first became aware of the grievances;

3. What actions were taken by the Ministry since the grievances were known;

4. And what plans the Ministry has for improving industrial relationship between SINGAPOREAN workers and employers.”

So simple.

Vichy WP must always bear this in mind when speaking up in Parliament: Singaporeans MUST always come FIRST!

“Towards A Singaporean First Parliament!”
