It is really a mockery to his own party that at 88 he still wants to run for another election. Honestly, everyone knows he does not have the energy to carry out his duties as a MP and is purely running for the sake of his million dollar mental minister salary.

Right on the nail. Nothing motives his kind like power and influence. His kind just cannot fade quietly into the background.
It's got to do with his legacy as the Ex-PM cum Ex-founder of post colonial SG. There is a stigma for most - so far none of the PMs were voted out during GEs. It's the same for him, for Goh and also his very own son. Becos of this there is plenty of reasons for him and Goh as MM/SM to carry on participating in GE. It's like having a winning ticket before you have placed the bet.
It's also a deep seated Chinese culture. Chinese give a lot of respect to Tai Shang Huang (Supreme Emperor), and in this respect SG people view the supreme PMs with a lot of deference - thus to lose in the GE is unthinkable. See why they are always in GRC? one winning ticket means 5 winning tickets....pao chiak eh...

Whoever the opposition that is field in Tg. Pagar should fight on the strategy of attacking the old man on his age and his lack of vigor. Highlight the fact that much younger minister are already stepping down why is he is still clinging on.

Old mental minister is really making a mockery of his own party by refusing to step out of the limelight. No matter how they try to explain it off, what useful contribution can a 88 year give. Other then traveling around the world on state expenses and spewing his nonsense which does not benefit us Singaporeans in the first place.
That is why TP GRC need to be challenged. Need make the MP work. Whether he can or cannot survive, let see.

wiw! beside wealth and power, there's fame to go along. since it's state funeral, the familee wouldn't need to spend a single cent. what about the donations that would be pouring in? theoretically, it would be annouced that all being donated to charities. but practically, does that ever happen??
