In Singapore, tobacco excise duties increased by 15% in 2023, with the current tax rate being 49.1 cents per cigarette stick, aiming to discourage tobacco consumption and generate additional revenue.

That means a packet of Marlboro 20 sticks you pay $9.42 taxes.

By my calculations, I am paying about 70 cents a stick. And it costs only about one to two cents to make a stick. Anyway, I need to work harder to feed my habit.
