Medics search patient's pockets for cash

A MEDICAL team, responding to an emergency call, has been accused of ignoring lives in China. Instead of performing first aid on the patient, who was foaming from the mouth, they searched his pockets for money.

Witnesses said the young man suddenly fainted at Guangzhou Railway Station. They called the emergency line for help and a medical team from a nearby hospital arrived at the scene 10 minutes later.

Just as the concerned witnesses were relieved, they were shocked to see the act of the emergency respond team. When they failed to find any cash from the motionless patient, they planned to leave.

An angry passer-by stepped forward and scolded members of the team.

A doctor then answered that the patient - believed to be suffering from epilepsy - would not die and this attitude had agitated the crowd.

Policemen, who stopped by to help, immediately ordered the team to save the man. The medical team then performed a routine check on the patient, then put his onto the ambulance. -- THE STAR/ANN
