FAR HILLS (New Jersey) - TIGER Woods took the initial step to competing in the US Open by sending organisers his entry form.

The USGA said it received Woods' paperwork on Monday, one day after he finished in a tie for fourth in the Masters.

It was his first competition in five months since he was caught cheating on his wife with several mistresses.

The US Open is scheduled to begin June 17-20 at Pebble Beach, California. -- AFP
