Heard that Those that want a Lion Dance must first apply for permit.

Accedding to complaints by FTs that Lion dance too noisy?

Whatever. The Scums have succedded in watering down further, the Chinese culture in Singapire.

Bro Golden Dragon....can you check with your police sources if this is true, regarding permit.

Thanks.

I think that watering down the "Chinese" aspect of lunar new year is a good thing. After all Singapore is part of a Muslim region rather than a Chinese one.

no wonder so quiet, i like lion dances:o cos i can dance along with my dancing shoes...

Most of the lion dancers during CNY are Foreigners. CNY lion dance market is actually the biggest in south east asia. Every year, 'helpers' from various country like Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, China will come into Singapore on social visit passes.

For such 'helpers', they are usually paid a daily wage(excluding ang pow), food and stay are covered. Last year, at least 120 Vietnamese and 60 Thai 'helpers' came......

What is so breat about these Lion Dance?

Noise pollution and it breeds that "luck mentality" instead of hardworking culture.

Gosh if this watering down gets out of hand, next we may have Christmas carolling being banned cos singing in public may deem as a nuisance as it is usually carry out in the open and in the night.

This may disturb the peace of the neighbours.

Very soon, we will have a muted country with celebrations done without fanfare, without noise, without music and joy.

What a joyless country Singapore has become.

Chinese are noisy buggers. Can't they celebrate their festivities in civilized manner Instead of polluting the communities with noise and smoke?

English trying to fool the world they are liberals and tolerant. It was only 100 years ago they seized land in Asia as theirs.

They made the mistake of giving it back. Asia has been going downhill ever since.

I thot some months back some lady comprain about noisy Malay $50 wedding ... Can't they wed in civilized manner?

The reason I decided to go to Batam for CNY was because I thought it be a quieter & more convenient.

Imagine my surprise when I found that the place was livelier than Spore:eek:
Although many of the chinese owned businesses were closed until the 22nd of Feb, I found the malls packed with both chinese & indonesian malays. All the makan places were packed & I notice that there were quite a number of Sporeans there. There was even a lion dance at the mall.

It was also noisy at night because people were letting of fire crackers:) So if you miss the good old days in Spore when fire crackers were common, you will find vendors selling fire cracker at the road side at Nagoya town.

Today (Third Day Of CNY) got a lot. :p
