SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman who is believed to be involved in a series of scam cases island-wide.
The suspect was nabbed after an appeal was made to the public on Tuesday for information on the whereabouts of a woman to assist with investigations into several scam cases, police said.
In all these cases, the suspect would solicit money from victims on the pretext that her husband was hospitalised and needed money urgently.
Police said the victims lent her between S$50 and S$450 each.
The suspect promised to pay the next day but could not be contacted after that.
Following the police's appeal for information, they received reliable information that the female suspect was staying in a unit at Bangkit Road.
She was arrested at about noon on Thursday.
Police believe she was responsible for at least nine scam cases island-wide.
The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday with cheating.
