A derivatives dealer was jailed 12 years and six months on Thursday (July 16) after killing her close friend on the latter's birthday.
Ang Soo Hoon, 40, pleaded guilty to one count each of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, dishonest misappropriation of property and giving false information to a public servant.
She killed property agent Celine Ng Swee Peng, 36, with whom she had an intimate relationship in 2010, in an apartment at the West Bay condominium at West Coast Crescent on May 26, 2011.
The court heard that Ms Ng had tried calling an ex-lover, Ms Ho Chui Foon, earlier that day and got upset when she couldn't be contacted.
Upset, Ms Ng asked Ang to help her die. Ang unsuccessfully tried to smother her with a pillow but Ms Ng pushed it away.
Ang got angry when Ms Ng called her "useless" and strangled her.
