Woman indicted for brutal killing of boyfriend's dog

The Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office yesterday indicted a woman surnamed Teng over violation of Animal Protection Act for allegedly killing her boyfriend's Chow Chow with a fruit knife.
Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office said the dog was stabbed in the heart, and the length of the wound is over 8 centimeters.
The prosecutors' office said during questioning, the 28-year-old Teng claimed that the dog barked at her and bit her, so she stabbed it to death in rage. Teng left her boyfriend's residence after the incident.
Prosecutors said Teng's boyfriend, surnamed Cheng, reported the incident to police after he discovered his dog lifelessly lying on the floor.
Teng said she had been living with Cheng for over a month, and the dog was never friendly to her, noting that not only did the dog bark at her constantly, it also bit her.
Cheng denied Teng's accusation, saying that his Chow Chow had a very good temperament and never bit people.
Prosecutors said Teng claimed that she was only trying to threaten the Chow Chow by poking its butt with a knife, however, the dog died right after she stabbed it. Teng provided pictures of her with bites and scratches, the prosecutors' office said, noting that the pictures cannot prove whether the dog bit her before or after she attacked it.
Prosecutors further noted that the fatal wound on the dog was located on its chest, not in the vicinity that Teng claimed to have pointed the knife.
