Fujian woman severs stepdaughter's arm, throws it in cesspit

A 35-year-old woman, surnamed Wu, cut off her 7-year-old stepdaughter's right arm with a kitchen knife, and threw it in a cesspit outside their home last Saturday.

The incident was discovered by the grandfather of the victim, Xiao Ting, after hearing her screams.

Xiao Ting's relatives and neighbors searched for her arm everywhere in the house while attempting to subdue the stepmother.

The arm has been reattached, but unfortunately, the youngster's not out of the woods yet.

Xiao Ting's father commented that Wu was mentally ill, and is currently taking medicine. He reportedly told his family not to anger her and is still questioning why Wu would have chopped off Xiao Ting's arm.

According to the report, Wu had been living with Wang for three years, and had a daughter of her own with him.

Wu is now being held in police custody for investigation.
