Without beloved kids, WHO will take care of you when you are old, feeble & encumbered with age old frailties?

As per above topic.

Do consider the consequences, as well as the options available that may not be palatable to some...

Love conquers all, so the saying goes....but Singaporeans are pragmatic people.

WHO will inherit your HDB home upon one's passing?

Not many will have large sums in CPF, & such funds will eventually run out. However, the HDB home - a roof over one's head remains, but left for who if one has no other loved ones? It is a tidy sum, even at current prices, & far more in the future.

For example. if one buys a BTO home at age 25, on a 99yr lease, with the avg lifespan of Singaporeans being 83, that would leave a balance of 41 yrs on the HDB lease, which
a) can be sold to qualified buyers, or

b) sold back to the HDB, or

c) rented out at current price of $3000/mth for a HDB 3 room flat UPON APPROVAL by HDB, $36,000/yr or $1.4million+ worth of rental income over 41 yrs. ( on a linear progression rate, not taking into account of inflation as well as potential rise in valuation of one's home)

So your kids are your retirement plan? And U don't want them to have their own lives to live? Yr kids must feed U whilst U have yr long life? N U r a burden to them? N U live with such expectations?

What happen if the kids turn out to be opposite ? Refuse to work and eyeing your wealth ? Abandon you when you are down ?

Oh dear, you are quite naive and selfish to think that you can rely on children for your own retirement, not knowing what a potential burden you can be to them.

Well, TBH we have to be responsible of our finacial and health wellbeing as we aged

A good idea is to form a loosely knitted community club, at least got people know when we move to heaven

Not every child who was raised by responsible parents will grow up to appreciate and repay their love and kindness.

Giving current development, too much social economical uncertainty ahead as Global Order Reshuffle

Realistically it should be the state to provide a dignified care.
But never will it be PAP.

Parents are considered Iucky if their kids don't leech off them. Don't even need to hope kids will look after them.
