Wing it in the hot tub

HOT tubs and romance go hand in hand.

But first you need a hot chick to get in there with you.

Fan the fires of desire with this hot pot of braised chicken wings.

The added kick of Chinese angelica in this herbal brew can help get the blood circulation going and give your potential hot-tub mate plenty to chew on.

Trouble is, these chicken wings may keep her so occupied, she may decide to skip the hot tub and you entirely.

In which case, make provisions for soaking solo on a Sunday night.

It isn't all that bad.

At least you can stretch your legs in there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Braised herbal chicken wings

INGREDIENTS

12 chicken wings

6 slices of Chinese angelica

1 cinnamon stick

3 star anise & cardamom seeds

5 cloves

1 tsp five spice powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

5 white peppercorns

1 garlic bulb & 20g galangal

2 stalks of lemongrass, bruised

1 piece of rock sugar

4 tbsp dark soy sauce

2 tsp salt

750ml water

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

METHOD

1. First marinate chicken wings with the five spice powder and set aside.

2. Fill a pot with the water. Place the angelica, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamom seeds, peppercorns, cloves, garlic and galangal in water. Boil for 15 minutes.

3. Add the lemon grass, rock sugar, dark soy sauce and chicken wings. Allow to boil uncovered for 20 mins. Lower the heat; simmer for another 20 mins or until the meat is tender.

4. Add in the salt. Serve.
