SINGAPORE NOW CHEAPER FOR FTS DUE TO WEAKENING S'PORE DOLLAR

Singapore's cost of living has fallen for expatriates living here, says a report by ECA International.

According to the report, Singapore now ranks 24th in the list of locations most expensive for expats, as compared to 18th last year. This is the first time Singapore has fallen out of the 20 top ranking position.

The survey takes into account a basket of goods and services, including food, household items, general services and necessities, but excludes costs such as rental, utilities, car purchases and school fees.

Analysts attributed the fall to the weakening of the Singapore dollar last year, which made the cost of living cheaper relative to other countries.

of course... u can expect 6.9m within a few years. the pap needs to keep the population ponzi going to gratify their cronies.

Like I said before, the size of singapores GDP and tax revenues depends on attracting MNCs to continue coming to Singapore to create jobs, and the government's ability to fill those jobs with cheap foreign labour.sinkies are irrelevant.and more human bodies in Singapore means more infrastructure and shopping malls needed, thus creating more growth and demand.as long as there's room in this playground,PAP will continue doing so.

IBig flaw in report to use SG dollar value as core measure because by definition, an expat is staying here long term for WORK. Purchasing power parity should be used for a specifically defined expat lifestyle involving certain lifestyles/ typical expat lifestyle which may be defined (incl. spouse, kids pte school, car, house, maid etc).

Otherwise, the study results are bogus/ inaccurate/ deceptive even.

What kind of donkey survey excludes rental, utilities and car cost which are amongst the highest in the world here

Foreigners - yes. Foreign Talents - no.
