[TD="class: msgtxt"]Are there such a dearth of Singaporean students in communication studies that SPH's Mypaper went to engage a British ang mo to be its intern?

Why is a perfectly viable local internship given to a total foreigner from half a world away?

The writer is from Norwich, England, and is an intern at my paper.

I think what SPH were looking for was an outsider's perspective to life in Sinkie.
He talks about Brits being reserved about outward displays of patriotism. Clearly, he has not been in London for the past 2 weeks. The wave of euphoria over Team GB's success is very palpable. I guess to most outsiders, Sinkie National Day celebrations are very patriotic.

As an aside, doesn't The Straits/Sunday Times have a correspondent residing in the UK who writes a column about London Life?
The fortnight piece is called "Eye on London" or something similar.
From the articles I've read, most of them are critical of London and how much better Sinkie is.
