I had an interesting conversation with my wife yesterday. We are expecting our first boy soon. She suddenly mentioned that if our second child is also a boy she wants to adopt an Ang Moh baby girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. I thought its an interesting idea. A lot of celebrities adopt African, Asian kids. Why are there no Asian couple adopting Ang Moh kids?

not too many blond and blue eyed kids for adoption. if there's any in eastern europe and or ukraine, orphanages prefer americans and will shoo away asians. asians are cheap.

i don't know...but from young age, that kid will be subjected to ridicule & questions regarding his / her parents - since its very obvious that you won't be the natural parents. The ang mohs probably don't feel / think this way...but how can you "educate" the kid since young about this? I am referring to a young age - where he not necessarily know, about adoption.

Same problem that the ang moh parents would have explaining to their asian/african adopted kids.

Probably because number of non ang mo kids needing adoption far outstrips ang mo kids. So everyone pitches on. Ang Mo kids needing adoption are few and therefore easily matched with and ang mo families. Govt regulations generally require some level of race and cultural suitability.

Based on the above, a non ang mo family seeking adoption of a blue eyed blonde kid would have a hard time explaining their notion of "helping" even if they find an eastern european country ready to hand over the kid.

By the way most 1st world parents go straight to the 3rd world countries to adopt as their own countries require the need to match race and culture etc more strictly.

Yah, that is what I found out today as well. Adopting a kid is actually hard in this country!

I know a chinese chap who married an angmo wife. She had some health issues and could not conceived, they ended up adopting an angmo boy. But I have not seen asian adopt angmo.

Is your wife from PRC? Why not adopt a prc baby girl? There should be plenty of such kids unwanted by their parents.
