there are so many things which they can do to lower the costs. why aren't they doing it? it shows that there's very difference between a cheap gov from a super obscenely expensive one like ours :(

All other expensive cities are optional to live in by their citizens. If you dont wanna live in New York, there are other states that you can choose tht suits your budget.

Sinkees got no choice. Plus you are forgetting that cars cost a fraction in costly cities then in peesai. One can drive to work in a city and live in the suburbia. In order to do the same in peesai it comes down to the same thing, which is you need alot of money.

So it makes no sense living in peesai, you have to spend a bomb on a car just to afford a "cheaper" home outside cbd area.

Other cities homes prices drop substantially once you are 30 mins to an hour away from the major city center.

As competition in the global businesses intensifies, esp with the opening up of China, this is the golden period for billions of cheap 3rd world workers to be hired in any country. It also does not help that our goverment does nothing to protect it's own people but rather encourage it by leading the way.

imo, i think they purposely make it that way so that everyone is at their mercy and feel beholden to vote them in for every GE.

if...and only IF we are bold enough to say NO to them and VOTE THEM OUT in GE2016, then they shall know the POWER OF THE PEOPLE.

the only most expensive salaries they give it to themselves. it's probably the most expensive obscenely overpaid for doing a incompetent job that the citizens can hire a very much cheaper and accomodating FTs to do the job.

actually all they need to do is build lower cost HDB flats in Johore with access to MRT. That will alleviate and bring down the cost of living while at the same time get paid in singapore dollar.
building lower cost HDB can be subcontracted to Malaysian developers with good track record. I am sure johore state have sufficient land they can lease for 99 years. I would assume a typical HDB can cost about RM300-400k and cheapest car about RM50k.(car duties in Malaysia will be reduced gradually for imports).
To complement, there should be singapore govenrment schools and maybe NTUC supermarket nearby.
