SINGAPORE: If you receive an email from sg_police
@outlook.com, beware.

Police have warned that it is the work of scammers, who sign off the email with the name of a senior police officer.

The scammers would claim that the recipients had won a package from an airline company amounting to S$200,000.

The recipients were then directed to contact a staff from a local bank and to provide their personal details before the "winnings" can be transferred to them.

Police advise members of the public who receive such emails to ignore them.

They should not remit or transfer money, nor give their personal particulars or bank account details over the Internet to strangers.

The public can call the police hotline at 1800-255 0000 or 999 to report the case. - CNA/gn
