We have the "why the chicken cross the road question"... Why did the wild boars cross the road from Lower Pierce Reservoir, going across busy Upper Thomson Road to Bishan Park? Can pigs fly?

The monkeys did swing across to the school field of Pierce School, not far from there, after they had trim the trees had had taken other measures, they no longer cross the road..

Why did the wild boar cross the road?

================================================================================

AsiaOne
Friday, Jun 22, 2012 SINGAPORE - National Development Minister Minister Khaw Boon Wan wrote on his blog on Friday regarding an incident where two wild boars charged at a CISCO security guard and a child.

The incident took place on Friday morning at about 9am.

The wild boars were seen wandering off into the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park from their home in Lower Peirce area at about 8.30am.

According to The New Paper on Saturday, a five-year-old boy was thrown about 1 metre away after the boar rammed into his rear. The boy was not seriously injured. A Caucasian man was seen carrying the kid away. ( Local animals hurt FT's, Minister very concern) ha ha ha ha ,A patrolling Cisco protection officer, Mr Arnold Owen Rodriguese, 36, also hurt his hand in a fall after being knocked down by the animal.

They were 'assisted' by helpers so that the government can justify culling them.

To the best of my knowledge, these animals will keep their distance from humans unless tempted, or cornered. Without further details, I can only conclude that the people attacked by these creatures likely taunted them and deserved the retribution.

Cheers!

Really back to the question "why did the wild boars cross the road"?? you maybe right with the "assisted" delivery. I kow that part of SINgapore well, the Bishan Park area used to be two commercial fishing ponds, when I was young, used to fish there during the school holidays. Opposite where the wild boars do the crossing, used to have a villagers living there at the edge of the golf course, I used to 'fish' stray golf balls in them bushes. Still can remember the brand new, dimple white balls with a number on them and bran "DUNLOP". At the end of a small road towards where the PUB water pumps are, a Hainanese village of some sort, PUB workers used to live there.

Pierce Reservoir is familar place to roam for flowers, butterflies, archer fishes...monkeys plentiful, but I have not seen wild boars!! they may have come down from Mandai area, where they are loosing their habitats due to development ( massive ones). I have seen the greater Malaysian mousedeer, you have to be so still, that you have to inhale to see them. I have seen gigantic spider web of the bird eating spider, with the spider in the centre...but I have not seen any wild boars there, least of all crossing a busy Upper Thomson Road.

Why did the wild boars cross the road? HOW?

There used to be a stall at Old Airport Road that sells it years ago, I have not eaten there for a long time & honestly haven't eaten wild boar meat for a long time...those in the papers, looks delicious... ha ha ha Vegetarian $8 SBO cow doesn't eat babi, so these have to go.

Really back to the question "why did the wild boars cross the road"?? ................

Halsey, up to 1971/72 the government allowed people who live on farms or those who have access to farmlands to own hunting rifles/shotguns (my uncle owned a 12-gauge shotgun) and these gun owners took on the hobby of "hunting" for sport or meat. Since the abolishment of this, perhaps the wildlife has been given breathing space to increase their numbers. I do notice an increase in the number of birds of prey in Singapore lately. Example is a pair of White-Bellied Sea Eagles over Changi Village. Once I even witnessed a couple of Horn Bills in some trees there.

Cheers!

I have a small flock of green coloured paraket in my area, years back a pair of brown sea eagles, I have seen king fishers, the small woodpecker with the red head feather ( psst I know what u all are thinking), the ones that resemble a crow, but smaller in size faster & noisier, the Golden Orioles, the various song birds. The migratory ones like the house swifts or the swallows? the cattle egret ( hop I got this right, for I have seen them in Thailand), the cranes...but with more developments the above-mentioned birds rarely appear these days.

But that doesn't answer the question, why did the wild boar cross a wide, busy Upper Thomson Road, even if was late night or early morning?? Wild boars are rarely seen at that part of Lower Pierce, Monkeys I agree.

What a stupid question??? Why wild boar cross road???

The wild boars were forced to crossed the road as PAP Ministers were doing their walkabouts with their dogs.

Those who served NS in tekong or went camping in ubin before would have encountered wild boars back then.
They will charge at light/fire. Keep food away and sleep in hammocks to minimize chance of attacks.
