</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>
<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to last Friday's letter by Mr Cassell R. Meyers, 'Credit card whopper'.
We wish to clarify that the 10 per cent administration fee, which is applicable to credit and corporate card payments, includes merchant fees which go to the banks.
This admin fee is similar to that charged in major cities such as Sydney, where the same 10 per cent admin fee applies to credit card payments.
Payment by credit cards is offered as an alternative to cash payment. The cost of the cashless terminal in all 15,000 taxis and the running cost of the system are fully borne by the company.
We have explained to Mr Meyers that the admin charge is necessary to defray the operating costs after he wrote to our customer service centre. We hope this clarifies the issue further. Tammy Tan (Ms)
