Singaporeans want change and Singapore needs both the WP and SDP to change the current system with Singapore and to wake the PAP who seems to have been stuck in inception for a long time now.

  1. There is no such thing as PAP’s “B” team. WP and all the other opposition parties are Independent and Separate parties from the PAP and most importantly they can Vote against the PAP as they stand on a different party line (members of a party are required to cast votes based on party direction)

  1. Currently no single opposition has the strength to field a strong 30 men team to go up against 6 GRCs. This is the truth and given that some of the candidates will eventually be sacrificed, winning 15 seats in the parliament will still be a battle lost.

  1. The truth is WP needs SDP and SDP needs WP equally badly. Come 2016 if WP and SDP each field their best 30 and with fingers crossed each gets 15 voted in then we can see a difference in the parliament voting.

  1. SDP and its supporters need to wake up and realize the fact that they should not be depriving votes in parliament that can go against the PAP. The only victor in the case would be the men in white.

a. For example both WP and SDP fields 30 men each in different constituencies and both has 15 voted in. The parliament will have a potential of 30 votes that can go against the PAP.

  1. Alternatively, if SDP decides to send in a team in a WP ward together with PAP, first of all we now have one opposition team that will definitely be dropped and given the same scenario there will be only 25 votes that can go against the PAP.

c. In the worst case scenario PAP capitalizes on the split of votes and wins the constituency with majority votes (40%-35%-25%), then two opposition teams will be dropped leaving with only 20 votes that can go against the PAP.

  1. Singapore does not need “Real Oppositions” who oppose. We need parties and MPs that speak up for the people and suggest policies that will ultimately benefit Singapore and Singaporeans. SDP really needs to amend its direction of wanting to be TRUE OPPOSITIONS before losing more support on the grounds.

  1. The different opposition parties are actually a good thing as compared to having a combined opposition party. Both WP and SDP should accept each other and gather different feedback from the grounds and reflect them in the parliament. PAP does not hear feedback from the ground and we are left with the alternate parties as Singaporean’s voice. In the past election WP has heard some of the feedback and raised them in parliament. Given 2016 it is SDP’s challenge to raise more feedback from the ground. If one opposition does not hear you then at least the other does, same for both WP and SDP.

  1. There is nothing wrong with WP wanting to form a coalition government. Unless SDP or WP is strong enough to have 80 truly capable candidates to run the country and who are not just there to fill the numbers, the opposition should always help the party with the majority vote run the country BETTER. Wanting to overthrow every policy in place does not help the country move forward.

  1. There is nothing wrong with WP appreciating the talent other parties have (that includes the PAP and SDP). As mentioned neither WP of SDP nor PAP has enough talent in every field to run the country. Singapore needs strong candidates who has true ability to be in parliament in this includes members from all parties WP SDP NSP and PAP. WP has admitted that PAP has some true serving folks and SDP should too, but the majority of MPs in white currently sitting on their huge paychecks with no contributions at all should be replaced. Like what the PAP has done over the years, opposition parties do not want to put free riders and boot lickers of their own parties in the parliament as well.

The next election will be the chance for dominant oppositions to rise up to the challenge. The challenge will be to put some competent men and women into running the country and to remove some currently incompetent ones free riding at the expense of taxpayers.
