Why are you guys sad on Friday?

A recent study has found that Singaporean men are happiest on Wednesdays, while women are happiest on Thursdays.

Also, men are most depressed on Fridays while women are most depressed on Sundays.

This is the result of a study done by the Grey Group based on the ‘tweets’ of 1,000 random Twitter users.

Reporters spoke to several people to find out when and why they are happy or depressed.

Xu Mei Zhu, a 22-year-old student, explained that she tends to be more upbeat on Thursdays and Fridays because the weekend is coming. But Sundays bring agony as her thoughts dwell on returning to school the following day.

If this is so, it remains a mystery why men get depressed on Fridays just before the weekend, according to the study.

The study also showed that Singaporeans between the ages of 17 and 25 are the most unhappy bunch while those between 36 to 60 tend to be happier.

Housewife Jiang Xian Lan feels that younger people may be more vocal with venting their unhappiness but that may not mean they are unhappy.

The 47-year-old also believes that those who are older may feel happier after having seen their children grow up.

The study also revealed conversation topics that make Singaporeans happiest - friends rank first, while lovers rank last.

Student Fang Wei Cheng believes that people are happy to learn what their friends are doing on social networking, and there is the joy of contacting long lost friends.

But he feels there is no need to talk about love on the Internet.

“It should be expressed more subtly,” said the 33-year-old.

i tell u why men r the most depressed on fri.

married men - WE burnt means family day, face naggy wife, rowdy children. Spend $$
single men - WE means either put up with whims & fancy of gf (shopping or visiting her parents etc) or w/o gf - feels lonely except to PCC again. Or go Geylang means hve to fight with others who are there as well.
