Why are frontline doctors dying of covid?

Why not? Crappy or inadequate protective gear. Same as SARS in 2003.

You smell ginfreely's cheebye one time, you choke, cough and run away. You smell it daily, you die.
that sums it up. it’s all about sexceptionally high probability of sexposure to a virus that can easily contaminate everything in an enclosed indoor environment. no amount of cleaning, protective gear, nor negative pleasure isolation wards can defend one against it. you need a total hazmat lockdown environment to contain it.

No different from influenza. Doctors are humans who went to medical school. They are not mutants impervious to infections.

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Cleveland Clinic released some tragic news Thursday about one of its doctors.
Dr. David Taylor passed away on February 5 from a complication of influenza, the clinic said in a statement.
The clinic said Dr. Taylor was a beloved staff member in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine for 19 years.

He was also a professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University and a former Director of the Heart Failure and Transplantation Fellowship.
“Dr. Taylor was internationally recognized in the field of heart transplantation and served as Past President of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He was an outstanding leader and gifted teacher, highly respected by his colleagues and committed to his patients. He saved the lives of countless patients and will leave a lasting impact on them, as well as the many colleagues, trainees and friends he has touched over the years,” the Cleveland Clinic said.
Last week, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health announced five flu-related deaths. The total number of flu-related deaths this season is 14 in the county, which is slightly below the five-year median.

Other healthcare workers not spared from the flu either. This poor guy died despite being vaccinated.

43-year-old father and hospital worker dies of influenza despite being vaccinated

Tributes have been flowing for a 43-year-old hospital worker who died from a strain of the flu last week despite being vaccinated.
James Day was an otherwise healthy hospital worker from Traralgon in the Gippsland region. The Victorian father-of-one spent a week in hospital battling influenza A before he died on Sunday. Just as health authorities recommended, Mr Day had received his flu shot.
In a Facebook post a week earlier, wife Jennifer said Mr Day was fighting for life.
“James has been battling Influenza the last eight days. Unfortunately it has hit him and his body quite hard and last night he was admitted to the Alfred ICU. He is very sick,” Mrs Day wrote.

Mr Day and his wife both worked at Latrobe Regional Hospital. Chief executive Peter Craighead said Mr Day’s death had devastated staff.
“James was with us for a short time but had connected with so many of our staff who are understandably shocked that his life was taken in this way,” Mr Craighead said in a statement.
“Our nurses who work with his wife Jennifer are equally upset, knowing how challenging a time this has been for her and their young son.”
Acting chief health officer Angie Bone said Mr Day’s death was a harsh reminder that even healthy people who were vaccinated can succumb to the flu.
“It really highlights the importance of all of us taking basic protective measures,” Dr Bone told reporters.
“These are things like ensuring that you had your flu vaccination for this season, washing your hands, using cough hygiene, coughing into your elbow and not spreading droplets that might be infected and if you are unwell staying at home and seeking medical attention.”
Dr Bone said the flu virus could live on a surface for 48 hours.
Mr Day’s case comes as this season’s flu crisis continues to spread across the nation, leaving a soaring death toll in its wake.
State and territory health departments are urging people to stay home if they feel unwell and book in for their flu vaccination.
The number of flu-related deaths has experienced a dramatic spike across the country, with at least 37 lives claimed in Victoria, 49 in NSW and 42 in South Australia so far.
More than 20,000 people have been diagnosed with the flu in Victoria alone since the season started in January, months earlier than usual. It was the first time one flu season had immediately followed another in Victoria, Dr Bone said.
“It’s difficult to know why it started so early this year. One suggestion is that the flu season 2018 wasn’t very severe at all, it was really quite mild, so that perhaps our levels (of) immunity in the population are lower, which meant that it started earlier,” she said.
In Victoria, 31 of those who died of influenza were in aged care, three were children and three were otherwise healthy adults, just like Mr Day.
A family friend started a GoFundMe page that has already raised more than $10,000 to assist Mr Day’s wife and young son.

Singaporeans probably very happy when they hear a doctor dies. Every doctor to them is a greedy bastard.

Correct?

Doctors' Suicide Rate Highest of Any Profession
By Pauline Anderson

May 8, 2018 -- One doctor commits suicide in the U.S. every day -- the highest suicide rate of any profession. And the number of doctor suicides -- 28 to 40 per 100,000 -- is more than twice that of the general population, new research shows. The rate in the general population is 12.3 per 100,000.

Doctors who die by suicide often have untreated or undertreated depression or other mental illnesses, a fact that underscores the need for early diagnosis and treatment, says study researcher Deepika Tanwar, MD, of the psychiatric program at Harlem Hospital Center in New York.

"It's very surprising" that the suicide rate among physicians is higher than among those in the military, which is considered a very stressful occupation, Tanwar says.

The findings were presented at the American Psychiatric Association (APA) 2018 annual meeting.

Stigma, Access to Lethal Means

Using MEDLINE and PubMed, the researchers looked at studies of doctor suicide that included articles published in peer-reviewed journals during the past 10 years.

The results also showed that although female doctors attempt suicide far less often than women in the general population, their completion rate exceeds that of the general population by 2.5 to 4 times. It also equals the completion rate of male doctors.

Experts are trying to understand why the rates are so high, Tanwar says. The study shows that some of the most common diagnoses are mood disorders, alcoholism, and substance abuse.

One study showed that depression affects an estimated 12% of male doctors and up to 19.5% of female doctors, a rate similar to the general population. Depression is more common in medical students and residents. About 15% to 30% have symptoms of depression.

The researchers note that mood disorders among health care professionals are not restricted to North America. Studies from Finland, Norway, Australia, Singapore, China, and elsewhere have shown an increase in anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts among medical students and health care professionals.

Tanwar says stigma is a major obstacle to seeking medical treatment. One 2016 study found 50% of female doctors who completed a Facebook questionnaire reported meeting criteria for a mental disorder but were reluctant to seek professional help because of the fear of stigma.

The new study showed that poisoning and hanging are among the most common means of doctor suicide. The findings also suggest that having knowledge and access to potentially lethal substances account for the higher rate of suicide completion in doctors.

The review also showed that of all medical specialties, psychiatry is near the top in terms of suicide rates.

There is growing awareness of doctor suicide, and programs to prevent it are increasing.

Tanwar says that several sessions at this year's APA meeting address doctor wellness and burnout, which may help reduce suicide rates.

Beth Brodsky, PhD, associate clinical professor of medical psychology in psychiatry at Columbia University and the Irving Medical Center, New York, calls the high rate of doctor suicide "alarming."

But she says it is not surprising, given the stress doctors face.

The stress starts in medical school and continues in residency with the high demands, competitiveness, long hours, and lack of sleep. This may contribute to substance abuse, another risk factor for suicide, Brodsky says.

This high stress is made worse by dwindling healthcare resources and residency positions, she says. When medical students graduate and enter the profession, they face different but equally challenging stressors.

As more women enter the medical profession, they are becoming increasingly vulnerable to the fallout from work stressors. As a result, their rate of suicide is also increasing, Brodsky says.

Brodsky is among the experts advocating for better ways of addressing these problems, which may start with simple changes. People do not "commit" suicide but "die by suicide," she says. She notes that suicide is an "illness and not a crime."

Openly discussing suicide as an illness helps to "bring it out of the darkness" and shed the stigma shadowing this problem, she says.

I love Doctors from a young age because of these words i learn from school : 医者父母心 (Those who heals are like parents out of love)

Till 30 as i was always fit and slim but i felt nausea suddenly and found out my cholesterol level was 320 there was not enough air to my brain my blood was too thick the Doctor told me to take Statin for the rest of my life and there's no other way out. I went to few Doctors all said the same.

But high IQ as I Am since young, actually most of the time too smart for my own good i found out they lied. My respect for them was totally gone. After i've nursed and reduced my cholesterol lvl back to normal through proper food, exercises and most important factor of all release of fear, anger and frustration ie emotional balance everything went back to normal.

Then i also realised the Doctors are all under FDA laws which if you ever utter a word against mainstream believe or practise watch out for your license hence through understanding i've forgiven as since i've learnt to forgive everything and everyone because i've also learnt that all are xp and lessons perfect as it is in totality nothing is even accidental and that Nature has perfect balance.

Meaning we just have to exercise love and forgiveness for Karma or nature will handle the rest. Enlightenment comes one at a time and when enough collectively there will be bigger changes we're what we are and it is what it is........... no hurry we've eternity is it not ? lol...

Whether it is this life, next life, heavens or hell we don't just go poof and disappear ever, so 'Do what thou wilt and harm none is all of the laws'.

And having patients when they dont get what they want say things like

"Greedy doctor. Complain to SMC. Struck off. "

Just makes it so much better.
