Earthquakes shouldn't be a major concern in rural property.

Country sides smelly millions of sheep farting pollute the air...

Frankton, Queenstown. Inland but still surrounded by water. Can go fishing anytime, even swimming. Brrrrrrr.....

Wow! Didn't know that. But if I remember correctly Christchurch was almost flattened by a big earthquake not long ago. It was frightening!

The damage was to all the old buildings and churches which were built before earthquake standards were established.

If you buy anything built from the early 90s onwards it should be fine except in the most severe of earthquakes that are at the high end of the scale.

Its not the earthquakes that Asians should be worried about. Its the racism that will make your stay unpleasant. A display of wealth such as buying of property with make you more detestable.

I'm Burmese and have not experienced any racism in NZ. I was discriminated against far more often in Singapore by the Chinese majority.

You are one of the "fortunate" few who will never experience racism. Even if a white guy sits and farts on your face, you will thank him and say his fart smells like Lavender.

Regardless, I don't think NZ is a safe place with all the deadly earthquakes.. Best to avoid!
