I look at those Lao Kiam Huh spreading in the Kopitiams and Hawker Centers. I don't believe they understand Medishield Life; what it covers and, especially, what it does NOT cover.

Who cares? The insurance industry is a casino, and the odds are your lifespan and well-being.

They always win, and you always lose.

Not sure how true - my uncle heard it is useless to have a integrated shield plan if you already have medishield life (which is compulsory) and you have no intention to be warded in a pte ward.

Verlee true. Insurance is onlee good when 1 is hospitalised for a prolong period of time .
The worst kind is if you do many kind of diagnostic in a&e and did not get admitted. They will send you for cost counselling 1st becas everything is out of pocket I.e Insurance and medisave not applicable. The basic a&e fee onlee covers standard chest xray and standard blood test.

Point to note about this leeductibes thing.
If say you are admitted to a b2 ward for about 2 days and all the diagnostics and bed charges come upto $2k you will be charged with a hefty bill even when medisave is used becas per day medisave can onlee utilise $400 I.e for 2 days is $800 . So you will be billed a sum of $1.2k payable from pocket.

Most DO NOT understand until they are hospitalised, then only they realised how much they have to pay in CASH..
Different hospitals have different billings and also different deductibles and co-payments.

And becas of these rules some smart ass will leeject discharge and try to prolong the stay becas the longer you stay the lesser you come out of pocket. The longer you stay the $400 per day usable from medisave will multiply. Insurance will kick in once the bill exceed $1.5k or 2k etc depending on your leeductibles. Final leesult insurance pays most of the bill. ,You Win or lose like this ? Leecide yourself.
