When "trust" becomes an issue, you know we have a problem

For a govt that thinks and believes that it is doing all the right things for the good of the people and to lose the trust of the people is a strange feeling. Either the govt is doing all the wrong things but thinking that they were the right things, or the people are just ungrateful and too demanding. It could be a mix of both.

So? Is Hsien Loong’s plea for trust going to be received kindly and reciprocated by the people? Or is it going to be a futile last gasp to regain the lost confidence and votes of the people? It cannot be just a plea and expecting the people to come back to give him a big hug. There must be things that went wrong that drove the people away from the PAP. And these must be put right if the support and trust are going to return.

Yes. The PAP has lost of the trust of people forever. It will never be able to regain it. Two main reasons. First is of course the spate of very high profile corruption cases. It proved how wrong the Old Fart's idea of paying super high salaries to pre-empt corruption is. Second, which is the more significant, are the consequences of PAP's policies showing up in the past decade. Everyone has seen how miserable the Old Fart's policies had failed and are failing now after what is only a short term success. People can now see that the PAP policies have only 2 aims. One is of course to increase its revenue eternally and at same time reducing its expenditure eternally. Second, their policies are geared towards ensuring the PAP stay in power.

If any PAP supporter is reading this, this is the message you should take to your masters. The trust is gone, lost forever, the writing is on the wall, the people no longer believes in the PAP. Tell the Old Fart this is the real "Hard Truth".
