If you ask me, Palmer cheats because he loves the wife just too much....
Saw a show recenly that claimed men who cheat has this Madonna–whore complex. They see women as either saintly Madonnas / Virgin Mary (those to be sayang) or debased prostitutes (just sluts for fuck and punished by men).
He sees his wife as a perfect woman (good wife, good mother) and refused to taint her with his queer sexual desires. So the women who come in free is the slut or "prostitute" for him to abuse. He will reserve sexuality for "bad" or "dirty" women (i.e. sluts, prostitutes). Hence while he has sex with other women, it doesn't mean he loves his wife less. On the contrary, he loves his wife alot, and prefers to satisfy his lust using "bad" or "dirty" women as a way of protecting the wife.
This is a damn god excuse if youre ever caught cheating.
