STOMPer KS and his son were greeted with a morning surprise earlier today (Oct 27) when they came across a group of otters at the Punggol Waterway.

In a phone conversation with STOMP, KS said:

"Was at the Punggol Waterway with my son for our weekly run at around 7.20am this morning (Oct 27) when we saw what we thought were otters.

"When we went closer to take a look, we saw a man already taking photographs there and asked him if they were otters, and he said yes.

"It was a surprising sight for us because this is not something you see everyday.

"Thought I'll share this with others here."

The appearance of otters have become an increasingly-frequent occurrence, with numerous sightings over the past year.

In August, another STOMPer wrote in after his father saw a group of otters rolling in the sand past the breakwater at East Coast Park.

This is so cool. I first came across otters in Pasir Ris (back then was called Loyang) when it was all farmland and prawn farms. It is nice that they're still around. I thought all the development would have destroyed their habitat and foodsource. Hope people don't pollute the waterways.

Otters loves to eat sea food, Lobsters, Abalone, Fish, sea shell you name it, especially if near Pasir Ris Fishing Pond
they will deplete the pond fish! We welcome Otters not Foreign Trash like PRC, Pinoy and Ah Neh!!

Otters are just cute animals!
